"This is a Wonder specially designed for the Gospel by the Weaver," she laughed. "And the Gospel only chooses inheritors who match its nature. Even if they do not match, it twists them to fit. Although just burning this Spider Web can produce the near miraculous ’Fate’s Fire,’ which is the so-called wish of the Divine Lord, those who dare to burn this Spider Web would never be chosen by the Gospel in the first place."
Only those who don’t make wishes can receive their wishes—it sounded like the irony of going with a friend for an interview and only you end up getting hired. Ash even thought of such a conversation:
"I want to make a wish." "If you make a wish, you can’t obtain the Divine Lord’s wish."
"But why would I need the Divine Lord’s wish if I don’t make a wish?" "I will only give you the Divine Lord’s wish if you do not wish."
"But I need the Divine Lord’s wish because I want to make a wish!" "You can only obtain the Divine Lord’s wish if you don’t make a wish!"
That is to say, Hanna’s plan was doomed from the start. The Spider Web is the final inheritance step of the First Gospel; unless someone becomes the First Gospel, they have no chance to touch the Divine Lord’s wish... Wait, but Hanna almost succeeded this time?
Ash’s thoughts were interrupted as Diya already asked, "What would happen if I burned the Spider Web?"
"The Gospel System would completely collapse and disappear, unable even to answer a question," Ling said. "The Spider Web here allows the power of the Gospel to reach everyone in the Gospel, and if you cease Weaving, it merely loses the ability to ’control the fate of all lives,’ but the Spider Web will still function. If you burn the Spider Web, the Gospel will no longer reach anyone else, only you could still wield the power of the Gospel."
Ash and Diya exchanged a glance, already guessing what ’Yayin’s world line’ meant: Hanna would undoubtedly command Yayin to burn the Spider Web thoroughly and then make a wish to allow Yayin and Ash to coexist, hence such a Weaving Festival occurred.
Though the cause and consequence were clear, Ash still dared not take it lightly, "Then, what does the Weaver hope the First Gospel would choose?"
Being directly pulled into the Divine Lord’s Heavenly Kingdom, Ash had never thought they had the liberty to resist. The supposed choice was like a company boss saying, "Everybody is free to express their opinions! We are a young team and value everyone’s ideas, so feel free to speak up!" and if you really dared to raise your hand, you’d be the fool.
"The Weaver has no demands on you," Ling said. "You need not worry. If the Weaver really wanted to control the Favored Realm completely through the Gospel, do you think just a Secret Avatar could protect her Consciousness?"
Ash couldn’t help asking, "Do you really have no opinion?"
"Wonderfully, why should we care? The Weaver and I do not concern ourselves with decades of time, nor the fate of several generations," Ling said. "To you, her coexistence with the Gospel is an earth-shattering event, but for us, it is merely a minor episode, a splash in the Flowing Gold River that will soon return to normal."
"We don’t mind what you do; whether you escape, accept, or use it... Even if you create bigger ripples, under the wash of time, they will quickly settle. If you could cause some interesting changes, that would be even better."
"I’m just guiding you to make a choice. Whatever you decide, I’m too lazy to check, so... please, as you wish."
Ash and Diya looked at each other, Diya asked, "Can I make a wish to change the inheritor of the Gospel?"
"No," Ling shook her head. "It is very picky and only chooses the highest quality inheritor available."
Used to living in a quiet, comfortable house, you wouldn’t want to move back to an old, small place with incessant renovations from the neighbors; I understand... Ash thought to himself, glanced at Diya, and stepped back.
"I won’t interfere," Ash said. "Liss, this must be decided by you."
Diya glanced at the center of the Spider Web and asked, "If I make a different choice, what changes for me?"
Ling pondered, "If you do not inherit but the Spider Web remains, your core will never be able to leave the Evangelism, as the Gospel is unwilling to leave; if you inherit and burn the Spider Web, you can move on your own or even leave the Gospel; if you choose to continue Weaving, you must live in the central area of the Evangelism, as it needs to stay within this range to continue weaving the future."
Diya was taken aback, "Burning the Spider Web seems to have too many benefits—more wishes, fewer bonds."
Ling smiled, "You have and can only make a choice here. As soon as you leave the All-Knowing Heavenly Kingdom, you won’t be able to change it—unless you come here again."
Diya nodded, walked to the center of the Spider Web and crouched down, twisting the loose Spider Silk.
