Although he refused the third request, Ash didn’t dare to flirt with the Sword Maiden and quickly explained:
“Your first condition was that I must come to Dazzling Star to see you, and the second was that I shouldn’t fall in love with anyone before I meet you. That means, I shouldn’t be proactive toward anyone else before I see you.”
“Even if you hadn’t made the third request, all my first moves would have been reserved for you.”
Ash winked, “I always wanted to save the most precious things for you.”
Sonia hugged her arms in front of her chest, feigning disdain with a snort, yet she couldn’t hide the smile on her lips, “I didn’t force you; you promised on your own.”
“Mm-hmm, it was the Observer falling head over heels under Miss Sword Maiden’s charm, voluntarily becoming her ardent follower.” Ash smiled lightly, lowering his eyelids, “So keep the third thing as a debt I owe you.”
Sonia glanced at him, “Are you apologizing? Well, I’ll accept it, but you’ll regret today’s generosity sooner or later!”
Ash quietly looked at her, sincerely saying,
Sonia didn’t respond and changed the subject, “Do you regret liking someone like me now? Sensitive, suspicious, possessive, and unreasonable… If you chose a broad-minded woman who doesn’t mind you messing around, perhaps you wouldn’t be troubled. After all, as a Holy Sanctuary Mage, having a dozen lovers wouldn’t be a problem.”
“I’m not messing around; I just have some emotional issues…” Ash countered once more, then said, “After all, one can’t control their feelings when they like someone.”
“So, I’m actually more skeptical about whether you can keep the promise,” he winked, “Can you really assure me that you’ll avoid close contact with me in the Void Realm?”
At this point, Sonia became somewhat coy, “Not these two days, since you just kissed me.”
“And after two days…”
“If I can’t help it after two days, I’ll find a moment completely unseen by any witch to get a little closer to you,” Sonia glanced at him slightly, “You know what to do then, right?”
Ash paused, slightly hesitant, “… Valiantly reject you, maintaining my purity?”
“Respond to me!” Sonia gently thumped Ash’s chest, “I only made these demands because I don’t want the witch to be upset; do you think I really want to set clear boundaries with you? As long as she doesn’t see, we can secretly date!”
Ash blinked, “But isn’t that being a double-standard dog?”
“What,” Sonia said fiercely, grabbing Ash’s collar, “don’t you like it?”
Ash chuckled softly, whispering in her ear,
“Hmph, I’ll put a collar on you sooner or later,” the Claw Club president said with a flushed face but contentedly.
“But have you thought about one thing,” Ash asked, “What if the witch starts doing the same…”
“I won’t give her the chance,” Sonia held his hand tightly, fingers interlocked without any gap, “If she still finds a loophole, then she wins.”
To be fair, Void Realm Exploration naturally didn’t offer much private time anyway, and if this rule was announced, they would surely keep a very close watch on each other, leaving no room for errors. However, Sword Maiden’s words also subtly set her own tolerance limit—Ash and the witch could only have occasional, innocent, secretive close contacts.
This level of interaction could stir jealousy but not anger.
Of course, she and Ash could only do so much; the gap would be the same for everyone.
It was only the witch who could endure a bit more, given their good relations and her willingness to compromise for the team. But that was the limit; if anyone dared to break the rules in front of Sword Maiden, she would dare to set them straight.
Overall, though, Sonia was confident in completely prohibiting any private interaction between Ash and the witch. She wouldn’t propose something that would put her at a disadvantage; even if there were loopholes, she believed she could block them.
“Then let’s go ask the witch if she’s willing to accept this proposal, or if she has other demands, or if we can come up with a better plan,” Ash said.
After a few steps, Ash turned his head to look at his hand held by Sonia’s, “Should this be…”
Sonia proudly raised her head, glancing at him sideway, and said in a rather petty manner, “I’ll let go when the witch shows up.”
Suddenly remembering something, Sonia asked, “You do know that I’m very likely to cut ties with you, right? You don’t think I can’t live without you, do you?”
“How could I,” Ash replied, “Before entering the Void Realm, I was prepared for you to leave.”
“So, what do you plan to do then?” Sonia asked, “Just let me go?”
“Do you really want to know?”
“Then why don’t you try acting coquettish with me?” Ash suddenly suggested.
Sonia looked at him unexpectedly, tilted her head, “Okay.”
She reached up to lift Ash’s chin, her tone soft and pitiful, her proud smile filled with indulgence, “Just take advantage of me loving you.”
Although it wasn’t the typical act of coquettishness he expected, Ash still felt utterly ensnared and admitted honestly, “If you really leave, I’ll still go to the Kingdom of Stars to find you.”
