Marked by Five Alphas: The Immortal Luna Chapter 46

Chapter 46: Evelyn: Theron’s Rage

Evelyn~

I gasped loudly as my vision suddenly went dark, and when I opened my eyes again, I was back in the burning room.

The heat rushed against my skin, and the crackling of the flames replaced the screams and chaos from the vision. Rael was still holding me tightly, his back shielding me from the shards of glass and the fire.

But fortunately, there was no spear between us.

"Are you alright?" His voice pulled me out of my reverie.

I blinked several times, trying to ground myself and make sure I wasn’t hallucinating. "I ... I’m fine."

Rael said something else, but my mind drifted back to the vision I had just seen.

What the hell was that?

I didn’t remember ever meeting another man who looked like Rael. Besides, that man had been wearing full iron armor, as if he were standing on a battlefield.

More than that, I didn’t recall ever visiting a city that looked like the one in that vision.

So what kind of vision was that supposed to be?

I expected my wolf to say something, maybe explain what was going on, but to my surprise, she went completely silent. Even after I waited for a while, she didn’t say a word.

It was as if she didn’t want to answer ... or maybe, she was just as confused as I was.

Whatever the case, one thing was clear: she wasn’t going to help me this time.

CRACK!

I didn’t get the chance to think about it any further, because the burning ceiling began to crack and fall.

Rael immediately lifted me into his arms. "Alright, let’s get out of here," he said. "Cover your nose."

Without arguing, I followed his instructions. I covered my nose and mouth with both hands, trying to block the smoke and dust from entering my lungs.

I thought Rael would carry me through the fire to escape the burning house, but to my surprise, he turned to the wall in front of him and kicked it hard.

With one powerful strike, the entire wall collapsed.

Chunks of flaming wood and broken stone crumbled outward, revealing a path to the outside.

Without wasting another second, Rael stepped out of the wreckage.

When I lifted my head to look at him, his eyes were filled with pure rage and deadly seriousness.

"YOU FUCKING MORON!" Rael shouted aloud, but he held me close and deliberately covered my ears with one hand so I wouldn’t hear his loud voice. "You almost killed my wife!"

Once again, I was still not his wife.

A few royal soldiers flinched at his words, especially the one who had fired the flaming arrow. That man took a few slow steps back, clearly realizing he’d messed up.

"Sh-she is our future queen!" one of them stammered, clearly shaken.

"Why are you calling her your wife?!" another shouted, confused and outraged.

Yeah ... I also had the same question.

But wasn’t it a bit funny that the royal soldiers were suddenly calling me their future queen?

Last I checked, most of them still doubted I was the true Luna and the full-moon ceremony didn’t exactly help my case either.

"EVELYN!" Theron screamed my name the moment he realized that the woman in Rael’s arms was me. "Give her back to me, you bastard!"

Instead of doing what Theron demanded, Rael only stepped farther away from the Alpha King. "You sure look desperate for someone you almost burned alive."

I pulled my face away from Rael’s chest so I could see Theron more clearly.

Theron’s expression darkened, either out of anger or guilt, knowing that one of his soldiers had nearly set me on fire.

"I’m sorry, Evelyn!" Theron said quickly. "I ... I didn’t realize you were there."

Rael laughed mockingly. "You say you have marked her, and yet you couldn’t even sense her exact location?!"

Theron gritted his teeth. "That’s because your filthy scent covered hers!"

Honestly, their scents were pretty similar, so in a way, Theron was insulting his own scent too.

"No," Rael said, slowly backing away while tightening his grip on me to ensure the Alpha King wouldn’t get the chance to snatch me back. "You’re not good enough for her."

"You’re being ridiculous, Rael," Theron stepped forward. "I don’t know what twisted plan you’ve got in that head of yours, but if you don’t return what belongs to me right now—" His tone grew colder. "I swear in the name of the moon goddess, I will burn you and your entire pack to the ground."

The way he said it left no room for doubt.

When I looked down, I noticed the shadow beneath Theron’s feet moving like flowing water.

He wasn’t bluffing at all.

If Rael didn’t hand me over soon, I had a feeling Theron would truly reduce this entire settlement to ash, including everyone inside.

But ... there were children here.

How could Theron be so cruel as to do something like that to them?

"You still don’t understand, do you?" My wolf finally spoke up. "Theron might still have compassion in his heart, but his wolf? Oh no, don’t mess with him."

As his golden eyes began to darken, I realized it wasn’t Theron standing there anymore, but it was his wolf.

"Rael, put me down," I said calmly. "Put me down before you unleash something we can’t put back in its cage."

Unfortunately, Rael was as stubborn as stone. He even walked farther away instead of handing me over to Theron.

"No, can’t you see his dark eyes?" Rael said. "If I give you to him now, he might do something bad to you."

So, Rael also knew that Theron’s wolf wasn’t something that could be reasoned with.

"You shouldn’t have provoked him in the first place," I said.

"Oh, my love, you belong to me too, so there’s nothing wrong with keeping you close," he replied. "Besides, he’s kind of unstable from the beginning."

If only Rael hadn’t kidnapped me in the first place, Theron probably wouldn’t have become unstable.

So yeah, I also wondered whose fault this really was.

"Your Majesty, I warn you to leave now."

Marek raised his gun and aimed it at Theron’s head, his finger ready to pull the trigger. "You’ve gone too far."

"Too far?" Theron turned his head toward Marek, his dark eyes locking onto him. "There’s nothing wrong with doing whatever it takes to take back what belongs to me."
