After several seconds had passed, there was the sound of an obvious chuckle. After that moment of delay, Ruan Qiuqiu finally registered Yuan Jue’s earlier words.
Wait a minute, demon?
Ruan Qiuqiu immediately became clear-headed. She scrambled to get out of bed, but her waist ached and she didn’t have any strength. She tried to sit up several times without success.
Why would a demon come to see them? The wolf demons from the Fire Wolf Tribe clearly hated Yuan Jue. It couldn’t be that Lu Ziran had come back, right? Based on Yuan Jue’s calm tone just now, it didn’t seem like the visiting demon was someone that he disliked or one that he found dangerous.

Her wolf had sat up.
Yuan Jue reached his slender arm towards the wooden stick that he had broken last night and left by the bed. Slowly, he stood up.
His long black hair was hanging down. He slightly turned his head and half of his handsome face was illuminated by the stove fire. The fine hair on that side of his face could be seen.
That sight paired with the motley animal skin robe that she had rushed to make gave off an old-fashioned and nefarious look.
Ruan Qiuqiu curved her eyes. When Yuan Jue doubtfully looked over, she stealthily closed her eyes and pretended to be asleep, copying him.
Yuan Jue’s expression was somewhat gloomy. His pitch-black eyebrows were furrowed. He felt wronged; he knew that she was pretending to be asleep. The sensitive wolf had automatically translated her actions as not wanting to see him because she was upset.
Despite that, he felt it was normal that she was disdainful of him for taking advantage of when she was sick and unconscious to share a blanket with her.
There was a repeated pecking sound coming from the entrance of the cave. The sound wasn’t loud, but it was clear. It was as if someone was knocking on the door.
Ruan Qiuqiu secretly opened her eyes a crack. She saw Yuan Jue leisurely making his way to the stone stove with the wooden stick and then boiling water.

What was this wolf doing?
The sound of pecking had stopped. There was silence from the entrance for a long time. The visiting demon might have left.
When the water had boiled, Yuan Jue ladled out the hot water. While waiting for the water to cool down, he dipped an animal skin in the water and used it to wipe his face.
