"The contract issue was handled by Liu Yuanbo, who found a lawyer in Capital City to assist Wu Li at Fenglin Group Building; Wu Li didn’t need to worry about a thing."
On March 9th, Wu Li and Chen Zhengyang took a private plane to New Country together, accompanied by Chen Zhengyang’s secretary and several bodyguards.
Hong Wenbo didn’t join them—he had to work after all, and with his status, traveling abroad wasn’t so convenient.
At around 4 p.m. that day, the group arrived in New Country.
There was a car waiting as soon as they got off the plane, which made Wu Li marvel at how monotonous the lives of the rich could be.
Wu Li and Chen Zhengyang shared a ride; during the trip, Chen Zhengyang chatted about homey matters with Wu Li as if there were no barriers between them. Wu Li found that Chen Zhengyang was actually quite talkative and seemed to genuinely appreciate him, willing to share some of his private concerns.
Through the conversation, Wu Li learned that Chen Zhengyang had a daughter, 25 years old, who was passionate about Kung Fu and still single, which worried Chen Zhengyang.
Chen Zhengyang also talked a lot about Zhao Lixin, "You can tell that kid likes our Yuzhu, but he’s too scared to confess his feelings—I’m anxious on his behalf!"
Chen Zhengyang’s daughter, Yang Yuzhu, took her mother’s surname; Chen Zhengyang’s wife had passed away when the child was just born, and to honor her memory, he chose to let his daughter carry her mother’s name.
Wu Li noticed that when Chen Zhengyang talked about Zhao Lixin, his eyes were full of affection. It seemed as if he didn’t mind his daughter being with Zhao Lixin, he might even be trying to bring them together, which Wu Li found somewhat surprising.
Seemingly perceiving Wu Li’s confusion, Chen Zhengyang laughed, "What, did you think that all wealthy families are like those in TV dramas, where they must form alliances by marrying into other wealthy families?"
"Haha," Wu Li also laughed, "I did think that was the case."
Chen Zhengyang shook his head, looking somewhat proud: "I, Chen Zhengyang, started from scratch and worked hard to get where I am today. If I still needed to secure my business through my daughter, I’d consider myself a failure! I just want my daughter to live the life she wants. Even if she likes a poor guy, I could make him a somebody in an instant!"
"Mr. Chen is domineering," said Wu Li, giving a thumbs up. He thought this was good—those families that struggled for generations and still relied on sacrificing their descendants’ happiness for benefit, Wu Li couldn’t comprehend what the point of their efforts was.
"However, for two people to be together, it’s best if they share the same values, interests, and hobbies," Chen Zhengyang continued, "I may not have a classist mindset, but it’s actually quite difficult for two people from different social levels to have a happy relationship."
"I outwardly claim I don’t mind if my daughter finds a poor boy, but I worry that if she really ends up with one and they later separate due to conflicting ideals, she’ll be the one who gets hurt."
Wu Li nodded, smiling, "So you hope your daughter can be with Zhao Lixin?"
A smile appeared on Chen Zhengyang’s face, "Lixin is a good kid—sincere, focused, determined, and most importantly, grateful. It’s too bad he has always been too afraid to reveal his feelings to Yuzhu, and it seems Yuzhu regards him only as her coach, without any romantic interest, alas."
Chen Zhengyang looked utterly fretful, which amused Wu Li quite a bit. Yet he was surprised that at 25, his daughter had never dated—given her background, it didn’t make sense... unless...
Wu Li covertly examined Chen Zhengyang’s features: a square face, deep-set eyes, a rather large forehead. If his daughter had inherited these traits, emmm...
"Wu Li, you and Lixin are quite similar, I see many common features in you, perhaps which you martial artists share," Chen Zhengyang suddenly remarked.
Hearing Chen Zhengyang say this, Wu Li became even more curious about Zhao Lixin.
After traveling for about an hour, the car arrived at a private estate.
Stopping outside the residence’s gate, Wu Li and Chen Zhengyang got out of the car.
"Dad," a female voice called out, prompting Wu Li to look up.
A woman walked toward them smiling, her long legs accentuated by light blue jeans, and a black jacket covering her slim upper body. Further up, a pretty face with a ponytail gave off a very refreshing vibe.
"Not bad at all," Wu Li assessed internally—definitely a template for a beautiful and wealthy woman.
"Yuzhu," Chen Zhengyang greeted his daughter, his face beaming.
"Mr. Chen," another man also stepped forward, calling out with calm demeanor.
The man was dressed in a black training suit, with a buzz cut, rather average in appearance, very ordinary, but with a good air about him, making him look quite spirited.
"Lixin," Chen Zhengyang nodded with a smile, "Let me introduce you guys, this is Wu Li, a master of Xingyi Fist."
"Nice to meet you," Wu Li nodded in greeting.
Upon hearing Chen Zhengyang’s introduction, Yang Yuzhu’s eyes lit up, "A master of Xingyi Fist? How about a sparring match?"
"You and your fighting," Chen Zhengyang chided his daughter, "always thinking about combat."
"Come on, let’s go inside and talk."
"Dad, are you saying he’ll replace Zhao Lixin in the competition?"
In a quiet room, Chen Zhengyang shared Wu Li’s situation with Yang Yuzhu and Zhao Lixin.
Zhao Lixin had been quiet the whole time, his head down, seemingly pondering something until Chen Zhengyang mentioned Wu Li taking his place in the competition, which made him abruptly look up at Wu Li.
"That’s great, Wu Li, how about we spar right here? What do you say?" Yang Yuzhu spoke, already standing and taking off her jacket, stretching out her limbs in the middle of the room.
