Martial Arts Worlds Chapter 339

[Mission: Defeat the villain!]

[Location: Little Malibu]

[Description: You must find and apprehend the villain]

[Time limit: 2 weeks]

[Reward: Hero's Aura + 50 Charm]

'That is… indeed something.'

Kiernan thought to himself, and every fiber in his body was telling him to just ignore the quest, and he agreed with his instincts.

The penalty was not clearly stated, but Kiernan knew that it must be severe, and the rewards for completion were not nearly enough for him to even consider it.

Not to mention that the rank was Advanced… It must mean that it was something way beyond his capabilities currently.

His gaze then moved to the last quest, a dark, ominous task that made his blood run cold.

[Rank: Highly Advanced]

[Mission: Murder 100 innocent souls]

[Location: High Castle]

[Description: Fill the streets of High Castle with red liquid. High Castle is known for being one of the safest cities in the world, and your job is to alter that. You must make a name for yourself as a symbol of fear]

[Reward: Unlock "Willpower" Attribute]

"System, these rewards don't seem too appetizing. Are the penalties as severe as they sound? It doesn't sound too fair!"

[…You can gamble if you desire to. The penalty might not be too harsh…]

"That penalty is probably an eternity in purgatory, blah blah. I am already heading there. I just don't like that it is Highly Advanced, and well… killing hundreds of innocent people…"

Kiernan shook his head and ignored the Hero and Villain Quest.

There were only two quests he could consider doing—Assassination and Investigation Quest.

While he wasn't sure what Duke Elringham had done or if he had even done anything, he already had experience in assassinations.

Iron Style was, after all, a style made of assassinations to begin with.

However, Investigation Quest seemed easiest and a good way to test the Quest Store system and whether he should try doing it more in the future.

'I guess that is the only 'good' one, as it doesn't necessarily include me fighting someone. I only need to be wary of Roah York's killer.'

Kiernan nodded his head and picked the Investigation Quest.

[You have chosen Investigation Quest!]

[Your punishment has been chosen!]

[If you fail to succeed in the quest, you shall lose one eye, and your memory of the event will be wiped clean]

"Hmm? Great… Merely Beginner ranked quest, and it already has me losing an eye. I am also worried about losing the memory.

"Hey, System. How many memories do I lose? The quest lasts one month, so do I lose the memory of the past month?"

[…Correct. The time started from the moment you chose the quest. Therefore, if you fail, you do not even remember this conversation or the punishment of the quest]

"Shit… yeah, that is bad."

Kiernan thought, and then smirked as he had a good idea.

[…I know what you're thinking. Anything you write that might refresh your memory will also be erased]

Kiernan dropped his phone back down as he was about to open a writing app to write down everything about the Investigation Quest in case he lost his memories.

Therefore, he wouldn't repeat the same mistake in the future.

[…I don't like you trying to cheat the system]

"So that is considered cheating… You sure are thorough."

Kiernan clicked his tongue.

"Why are you apologizing now?"

The system stayed quiet like a mouse.

Kiernan looked strangely at the chat messages and remembered another weird encounter he had a long while ago.

It happened in Infinite Dojo when he encountered that strange girl who knew everything about the system.

"Do you know about someone named Mira?"

He expected to receive an answer back, but the system quieted down and seemingly logged off without responding to his question.

'The system knows about Mira… Maybe the system is Mira, but they don't quite act the same. Mira had some human personality, very eccentric.

'This system is purely logical and emotionless, lacking any hint of humanity. Maybe the system's level is too low to comprehend emotions.'

He then waved off the chat messages, deciding to focus on that at a later date, and then moved his gaze back to the Investigation Quest.

He had to find a way to go to Gothic City—luckily it was currently winter break.

Karma beamed, cut a few slices of cake, and handed them around the table.

After receiving his own plate of cake, Julian spun the spoon with his fingers and then proceeded to eat the delicious cake.

The cake was done by Irio's greatest cake maker, who went far to make sure that the cake was perfect, as he knew it was going to be eaten by Kiernan, the hero of Irio, for his birthday.

Kiernan took a few pieces and nodded with satisfaction.

He wanted the chocolate cake, as he wasn't the biggest fan of cakes, but he liked chocolate, so he went with that flavor.

It was an honest-looking birthday party with one cake and a few small birthday gifts given by neighbors.

There were actually many more of these birthday gifts, but those came from admiring fans, so Karma didn't accept them, as he only accepted gifts from his family's friends.

"I thought last night about my birthday present, dad, and I know exactly what I want."

Kiernan said with a smile.

Karma put his spoon down and listened.

He said to Kiernan that he was willing to give anything that was within reasonable limits to make his son happy.

Julian curiously listened, wondering what in the world Kiernan would want.

His own eighteenth birthday present was a while ago, and they had the same simple-looking birthday party for him.

He wanted a new game console, which Karma bought for him. Julian and Kiernan used it frequently, battling against each other in fighting games.

While he had a rough start, Kiernan started to slowly learn the controls and started to catch up with Julian's skill level.

"I want to go to Gothic City!"

Kiernan said with a smile.

Julian's eyes widened in surprise.

Karma's expression turned strange.

He wondered why in the world his son would want to go to that place, which was widely known as a dangerous and crime-ridden city.

It wasn't a place where people would just go for a holiday, but in the end, Kiernan also wasn't any ordinary person.
