Marvel: Hunter Chapter 35

Why did he know he was a werewolf?

Of course, because he had watched the show!

However, Blaine obviously couldn't say that to Peter.

Whether Peter believed it or not, what difference did it make? It didn't matter either way.

As a Bounty Hunter, he had to carry himself like one.

A Bounty Hunter had to act the part—even if he was extremely eager for money, he couldn't come off as greedy. Hmph, he definitely wasn't a money-grubber.

At most, he just liked money a little more than the average person.

...

...

Blaine left.

He took off his Hunter outfit and found a hotel in Beacon Hills to stay in temporarily, planning to leave the next day.

Things had gotten pretty serious here.

After all, even the police station had been attacked. Incidents like that are considered terrifying no matter the country—since the police represent a nation's authority, being massacred is like slapping the country in the face.

But that had nothing to do with him. The cleanup could be left to Peter and the others to deal with.

The next morning, just as Blaine checked out of the hotel, he received a notification: 10 million had been transferred to his account.

He glanced at the time—it seemed the bank had just opened.

Peter really was afraid of dying.

Blaine smirked, remembering how terrified Peter looked the night before when he'd been "threatened."

Though calling it a threat wasn't entirely accurate.

If Peter had really tried to skip out on paying, Blaine was confident he could hunt him down to the ends of the earth and chop his head off to hang on a cross.

His tracking paper cranes weren't just for show.

He had booked a 9 a.m. flight.

It would take about an hour to get from Beacon Hills to the airport.

But it was still early, so he figured he might as well stroll around town and grab some breakfast.

After walking a short distance, he noticed a crowd gathering and talking about something.

This sort of thing wasn't unusual in the evening, but early in the morning, it felt a bit off.

Had the news about the police station already spread?

Blaine squinted slightly but said nothing. He bought a bun at a convenience store, smeared some jam on it for a half-full stomach, and left Beacon Hills.

He was headed back to New York.

He had the 10 million in hand, and there was nothing in Beacon Hills worth staying for.

Around ten in the morning.

Blaine finally returned home.

In his line of work, it was feast or famine—one job could feed him for three years.

He had earned 10 million in a single day. Insane profit.

He had killed someone again this time.

Blaine felt that killing was getting easier and easier for him—and he didn't feel the slightest guilt about it.

Tsk tsk.

He shook his head.

He really was suited to be a Bounty Hunter. At least when it came to killing, he had zero psychological burden.

Over the next few days, Blaine didn't stay home all the time.

Sometimes he went to school to play ball with Peter and the others, read a few books, and cultured his soul a bit.

Even though the missions felt easy, Blaine had made a rule for himself: after completing one mission, he would take some time off.

He did love money, yes, but everything needed balance.

Blaine understood that wanting money like this was still normal—but if he took job after job non-stop, that wasn't just being greedy. That was becoming a slave to money.

Over these ten-odd days,

Blaine's strength had increased quite a bit.

Currently, his balance was 37.37 million.

In the last fight against the lizard monster, although he easily won, Blaine noticed one of his weaknesses.

That was his constitution.

He originally thought 10 points in constitution was already enough.

But now he realized even minor NPC monsters had 10 constitution points, which gave him a bit of a sense of danger.

If fighting just a lizard mutant made his hand go numb, what about the Hulk? Or Thor? Okay, even if he never ended up fighting them, what about someone like Abomination?

Those guys' strength was dozens or even hundreds of times greater than a normal human's. Especially the green brute, who was famous for raw power—he was absolutely terrifying.

Maybe with Absolute Hit, Blaine could defeat them.

But as someone who aimed to lie low and survive forever as a Bounty Hunter, he knew he needed to develop in all aspects.

First: Constitution.

Blaine didn't hesitate to spend 7.73 million to raise his constitution to 30.

Next, he had his eye on a skill:

[Diamond Body (Lv.1)]: Price: 100,000. Grants terrifying defense enhancement. The higher the level, the greater the percentage-based boost.

This was a percentage-based constitution skill. The higher his base defense, the stronger the boost. Leveling up would increase that percentage multiplier.

Once activated, there might be no change visible on the surface, but beneath the skin—muscle, bone, internal organs—all would be coated with a faint golden sheen.

So Blaine bought the skill without hesitation and leveled it up to Lv.2.

He had a strong feeling that once Diamond Body was activated, his defense would skyrocket—maybe even multiply several times. With a constitution of 30 now, it'd probably take someone with 90 strength to actually hurt him.

Living up to the name Diamond Body!

At this point, even facing Thor, Blaine felt confident. As long as Thor didn't use his hammer, he probably couldn't even break through his defense.

Although his money had dropped significantly, Blaine felt fantastic. After all, money was meant to be used for strengthening himself. Now he could sleep soundly at night.

However, the Marvel world wouldn't stay quiet forever.

One day, Blaine saw Tony Stark on a televised press conference.

He held a statement in his hand, hesitating at first—wanting to speak but holding back, then speaking again but stopping midway—until finally, he tossed the paper aside and looked straight into the camera:

"I am Iron Man."
