It radiated unease, a presence wholly unlike any of the mystic eyes he had unlocked before.
This was the last of the Five Mystic Eyes: the Eye of Resentment.
Unlike the Future Eye or the Eye of Annihilation, this one was rooted not in knowledge or destruction, but in curses. Its power whispered temptations, as though some hidden "god" spoke directly into the soul. Yet Kurogai knew better. It was no god's voice. It was the murmuring of something darker, the echoes of a devil coaxing mortals toward ruin.
For him, those whispers held no sway. Only the power mattered.
"The ability to curse… enough to scar even gods," Kurogai muttered under his breath. "That is the terror of the Eye of Resentment."
The change resonated through his being. On his forehead, the totem of the Ultimate Pupil shifted once more. Two of its twelve rings now burned with light. They pulsed like divine flames, distinct from the dormant rings that remained silent and dark.
And within those flames, Kurogai felt something strange.
These perfected rings carried not just power, but divinity—fragments of something higher. Yet each one felt unique, like the essence of entirely different deities.
"Does each pupil ring hold the divinity of its own god?" he whispered, unsettled. "If all twelve are awakened… is that the power of twelve gods combined?"
The thought lingered, but answers slipped through his grasp. Two rings completed were not enough to reveal the truth. Still, one fact was certain: the Ultimate Pupil's power was not merely sorcery. It was tied to something ancient, something that blurred the line between gods and demons.
When the totem receded beneath his skin, the divine aura concealed itself, but Kurogai could still feel it thrumming within. It didn't harm him—on the contrary, it elevated him. Yet the mystery gnawed at him.
He shook his head slowly. "Speculation is pointless. The only way forward is to perfect the remaining rings. Only then will the truth reveal itself."
The library's silence swallowed his words, but outside its walls, Asgard trembled.
High above in the golden halls of the palace, Odin All-Father sat upon his throne, watching the ebb and flow of the Aether's particles through his seer's vision. He sought disturbances across the realms, searching for signs of imbalance.
Suddenly, his eyes snapped open. His expression hardened, then shifted to shock. He could feel it—a surge of unimaginable power emanating from the direction of the magic library.
And intertwined with that power was something far rarer.
"Divinity…" Odin breathed, rising from the throne. His voice was shaken. "How is this possible? A true god… being born in Asgard?"
His hands clenched tightly around Gungnir. The Asgardians were called gods across the Nine Realms, but Odin knew the truth. They were not divine. They were an ancient race with power, longevity, and strength—but not true divinity.
Yet now, in his own realm, he sensed it unmistakably. The awakening of something greater.
If it was real, then this moment would surpass every triumph of his reign. Not wars won, not realms secured—no, his legacy would be witnessing the birth of a true god.
"Father, what is happening in the library?"
Thor strode into the throne room, Mjolnir in hand. His eyes narrowed with unease. He, too, had felt the weight of that energy. It pressed against him like a storm, suffocating, demanding reverence.
Odin's face remained grim. "Thor, evacuate the palace grounds. No civilians are to remain near the library. I will see to this myself."
Thor hesitated, reluctant to leave his father, but the tone in Odin's voice left no room for argument. "As you command."
The warriors of Asgard rushed to clear the streets. Curious eyes and reckless souls were driven away from the great vault, leaving the golden courtyards empty. Soon, only Odin remained, his steps echoing as he approached the towering doors of the library.
"Thor, you and the guards will remain outside. No one enters until I say so."
Thor gave a stiff nod. "I understand."
Odin pushed open the doors. The air inside hummed with raw energy, thick and heavy, as if reality itself bent beneath it. And in the center of the vast chamber, amidst shelves of ancient knowledge, stood a solitary figure cloaked in power.
The All-Father's single eye widened.
"It's you…"
