Marvel: My Sign-in System Chapter 272

On the bustling streets of New York, in a quaint café by the roadside, Leon sat quietly. He wore a peaked cap, a white shirt with the cuffs rolled up, and a pair of jeans, embodying a casual yet fashionable look. The seating area was lively, filled with people sipping coffee and chatting.

Leon's presence naturally drew attention. His striking demeanor stood out, but he remained oblivious, engrossed in the newspaper he held.

Despite the decline of print media in the age of the Internet, mobile phones, and computers, newspapers still found their audience. Many cafes and hotels offered newspapers to patrons for a few days after publication. Leon skimmed through the articles, finding some mildly interesting: critiques of the government, reports of the police apprehending serial murderers, and feminist groups decrying social injustices. Other headlines highlighted Tony Stark and Iron Man leading the Avengers to capture dangerous mutant criminals or rogue superpowered individuals.

Some stories stirred admiration, others disdain. Black activist groups protested against racial discrimination, painting a complex picture of the United States—a land idealized by many but where true happiness was often reserved for the rich and powerful. Leon reflected on the disparities: white privilege, systemic bias against Black people and Asians, and the harsh realities faced by minorities. Asians, in particular, bore the brunt of discrimination, often from multiple groups.

If he had encountered such news earlier in life, Leon might have felt indignant. Now, his reaction was subdued. He believed in personal accountability; everyone had to bear the consequences of their choices. While he didn't harbor the altruism to fight these battles, he would intervene if injustice crossed his path.

As Leon sipped his coffee, a graceful woman approached. She had dark brown, slightly curly hair and wore a gray T-shirt under a brown-green denim jacket. A backpack was slung over one shoulder. She slid into the seat opposite him.

"Hey, sorry I'm late," she said, slightly out of breath.

Leon lowered his newspaper, his calm gaze meeting hers. "For a lady, it's worth the wait."

The woman smiled, her large eyes lighting up with surprise and admiration. "Wow, I didn't expect my online chat buddy to be so handsome. You look like a celebrity!"

"Let me introduce myself. I'm Skye."

"Leon," he replied with a faint smile.

Yes, the woman before him was none other than the hacker who had once attempted to breach his network. What began as a cyber battle had evolved into friendly online chats. Skye, as Leon had discovered, was an Asian woman with a sharp mind, striking mixed-race features, and a warm personality. She was stunning—a classic beauty with delicate facial features and an elegant figure.

This meeting was her suggestion, the culmination of their online interactions. Leon, however, had done his homework. He knew far more about her than she could guess, which was the only reason he entertained the idea of meeting her offline.

Skye, on the other hand, was pleasantly surprised. She had expected an aloof tech genius, not someone who looked like he belonged on a magazine cover. Everyone appreciates beauty, and Skye was no exception. She felt more at ease and happier than she'd anticipated.

Their conversation flowed easily, mostly centered on technical topics. Skye, a chatterbox by nature, peppered Leon with questions. To her delight, he answered every query with patience and precision. Even as he spoke, he signaled for a waiter to bring her a cup of coffee.

The exchange was enlightening for Skye. Not only did Leon address her concerns, but he also exuded a calm gentleness that put her at ease. She couldn't believe the top-tier hacker she'd admired online was this approachable in person.

However, as they chatted, Skye noticed something unusual. The temperature in the café seemed to rise suddenly. Confused, she glanced around.

New York's weather was perfect that day—cool and pleasant, around 23–24 degrees Celsius. The sudden warmth was out of place.

"Is it just me, or did it get hotter in here?" she asked, fanning herself lightly.

Leon raised his head, his gaze shifting thoughtfully to the sky. While Skye dismissed the temperature change as an odd weather fluctuation, Leon knew better. This wasn't just New York—it was the entire Earth experiencing a shift.

In his mind, a cool, ethereal voice spoke: "High-level energy reaction detected. Core temperature rising. Source: Muspelheim. Character: Flame Demon Surtur. Energy reaction level: God-tier."

"What's happening?" Leon asked internally.

"Three minutes ago, Loki Odinson opened the Rainbow Bridge portal to Muspelheim," the voice continued. "He stole the Eternal Flame from Odin's treasure vault, allowing Surtur to regain his peak strength. Surtur has summoned the Flame Demon Legion and is preparing to invade Asgard and wage war."

Leon's mind flooded with vivid images: Loki entering Muspelheim, his encounter with Surtur, and the colossal fire demon growing to over 300 meters as he summoned his infernal army. The chaotic fragments painted a clear picture.

Casually, Leon murmured to Skye, "Interesting. It seems there's trouble brewing in Asgard. Loki's gone and helped Surtur regain his strength. Wonder what his endgame is."

Leon knew Loki's character all too well—cunning, ruthless, but fundamentally driven by a deep-seated desire for validation. Loki's schemes often amounted to elaborate bids for attention or revenge against Thor and Odin.

But this time, stealing the Eternal Flame and unleashing Surtur seemed out of character. It went beyond Loki's usual antics, crossing a line Leon didn't expect him to cross.

The implications were troubling, and Leon's mind raced to decipher Loki's true motives.
