Sure, the second-order mutation chance hadn't jumped to 100% like he'd secretly hoped... but come on, 20% was still impressive, and he understood he was being too greedy.
Back when Wanda had a gun pointed at her forehead, the system had triggered over a dozen times. If it had been at Level 2 then, at least one or two second-order mutations would've happened for sure.
He couldn't help smiling as a small wave of satisfaction rolled over him.
Finally... he wasn't just some ordinary guy trying to survive in the Marvel universe. The system wasn't perfect yet, but it was working.
He leaned back, feeling a rare sense of security.
Then, without thinking, he started humming an old tune from his past life.
The voice cracked like thunder, nearly giving Luke a heart attack.
He looked up just in time to see Wanda standing between him and Natasha, arms on her hips, her expression full of righteous fury.
Wanda's face was red, not from embarrassment, but from rage. Her eyes blazed with fury.
"You've been ogling her ever since you looked up! And now you're even singing! What kind of perv are you?!"
Luke blinked, confused. "Wait, what?"
"You said you didn't like men, so I thought maybe that was the reason you kept ignoring me! But no! You just like that kind of woman!" She gestured behind her at Natasha's... formidable presence.
Luke nearly choked on his own breath.
What is happening right now?!
He had not been staring at Natasha!
He'd been looking at his system panel! The glowing blue one! The only seductive thing here was the mutation probability chart!
Before he could even begin to explain, Wanda cut him off with a huff and glanced down at her still developing self, then back at Natasha's curvaceous figure.
That only seemed to make her angrier.
"So that's it... it's my figure, isn't it? That's why you never look at me!"
'Why would I look at you like that, you're my sister!'
Luke's mind was spinning. He couldn't even decide if he should clear things up or let it slide. But did he really need to explain anything?
She wasn't his girlfriend!
He was about to open his mouth when the system pinged again.
[Ding~ Your little girlfriend Wanda felt jealous over Natasha Romanoff's figure. Certain parts of her body have mutated in response…]
Luke's face paled, 'what the hell?!'
'Why did she mutate again?!'
And why was it that she always mutated in such weird ways?
And what was with the system calling her his girlfriend? She was his sister, for crying out loud!
'Wait... did the system actually give her a jealousy-triggered body upgrade?!'
Before he could process the absurdity of it all, Wanda suddenly stopped ranting.
Her anger vanished in an instant, replaced by a flushed, startled expression.
She looked down, then yelped, clutching at her clothes as if they were too tight, feeling like they were about to rip at any time.
Without another word, she turned and bolted up the stairs, her hands clutching the edges of her shirt.
Moments later, a surprised squeal echoed from the second floor.
There was something strange about it, not just shock, but... also a hint of delight?
Luke finally slumped into his gaming chair, drenched in cold sweat.
He wiped his forehead with a trembling hand and thought to himself:
'Even if Thanos walked in here right now... he wouldn't be as scary as that girl.'
