It was summer vacation, and there was absolutely no one in the school.
In F City’s university, at midnight, it was pitch black, completely deserted.
There was not a single light in the school, only the night breeze and the hurried shadows of trees, the fluttering willow branches looking like seductive women swaying their slender waists, charming even in the darkness.
But mostly, it was eerie.
In the still of the night, the police were still guarding each possible entrance to the school with vigilance.
However, no one had noticed that...
A sneaky figure had long since appeared inside the school.
It was a girl, dressed in a red skirt, with long hair draped over her shoulders and marks of strangulation all over her face, walking haltingly along the school’s pathways.
From time to time, she would look back and try to grasp something beside her, as if not wanting to go on.
Her manner resembled someone being forcibly dragged forward.
Yet there was absolutely no one in front of her.
"Wuu wuu... let, let me go, I beg you, please let me go, I don’t want to die..."
Her body kept falling backward, trying to hold on, her face covered with tear stains as she sobbed continuously, her eyes filled with terror.
The pitch-black ahead seemed like a monstrous gaping maw ready to swallow her whole.
The closer she got to the darkened teaching building, the more terrified she became, unable to help but struggle.
She kept rubbing her hands, twisting them, turning her wrists bright red.
Her feet kept sliding backwards, but no matter what, she ended up moving forward.
If a sane person were to see her walking in such a strange posture, they might think she was having a seizure.
Only she knew what she was about to face.
"I was wrong, I truly know I was wrong, can’t you forgive me... I really don’t want to die, whatever compensation you want, I can give you, just let me go, okay..."
But no matter how much she shouted, she kept moving forward.
With the teaching building right before her eyes, she screamed in utter terror.
"Someone, anyone, save me! I don’t want to die! Is there nobody, please save me!"
Her sobbing continued, her cries in the wind sounding like a ghost clapping, as if summoning spirits.
But no matter how desperately she screamed, it was all in vain.
She seemed to be in a strange space.
This space was completely isolated from the outside; no one could hear her cries for help.
The sensation of nearing death was like waves surging up, already passing her chest, her lungs, the icy cold water gradually filling her lungs, compressing her lobes.
Screaming was futile.
She struggled frantically, flailing her arms, and suddenly fell to her knees with a thump, her knees scraping against the ground as she dragged her body, not wanting to go further.
But her arms were pulled taut in an instant, as if someone in front stood holding her hands, forcibly dragging her along.
Her legs kept rubbing against the ground, the intense pain sweeping over her body.
Soon, two dark red tracks appeared on the ground.
Twisting in pain, she continued to scream and plead, but only her own wails and the wind were around her.
With the teaching building just ahead.
Widening her eyes in horror, she clenched her teeth and violently pressed down on her wrist.
With a crack, the sound of bone breaking immediately followed her scream.
She had forcibly broken her own hands in an attempt to escape.
Both hands instantly hung limp.
