Jiangli needed to go back and see if Wang Xinjun had arrived, so Wen Zishu and Xia Xin took her back to Jiaoyang Temple first.
On the latter half of the journey back, neither Xia Xin nor Wen Zishu broached the earlier topic.
It seemed as though Jiangli had forgotten about it as well.
When she got out of the car, her expression was normal, even showing a hint of disdain as she cautioned Xia Xin, “Be careful when you take him back, don’t do anything you shouldn’t do. There are things we cannot manage and shouldn’t provoke; you have to understand that.”
Xia Xin nodded repeatedly, “Don’t worry, ancestor, I understand it all!”
Jiangli waved her hand dismissively at him and turned to walk towards Jiaoyang Temple.
The car only stopped at the entrance of the street.
As soon as Jiangli disappeared from their sight, Wen Zishu started the car again and took Xia Xin and Shuaishuai home.
At the same time, Wen Zishu got through to Fu Shiyan’s phone to report on the progress and outcomes of the matter.
Jiangli returned to Jiaoyang Temple alone.
As she arrived at the gate, she saw Wang Xinjun anxiously pacing back and forth at the entrance of the temple.
He seemed to be waiting for someone.
Just as Jiangli got back, he spotted her and immediately his eyes lit up, quickly jogging over.
“Master, please save my daughter!” he exclaimed.
He raced to Jiangli’s side, almost as if he wanted to kneel before her.
Jiangli stepped back, pulling out the key Xia Xin had given her and opening the door as she spoke, “Let’s talk inside. This isn’t the place to talk.”
Wang Xinjun, in a state of panic, but seeing Jiangli and hearing her words, felt a bit more at ease.
He followed Jiangli into Jiaoyang Temple.
Once Jiangli closed the temple’s door behind them, he couldn’t hold back his sobs as he said, “Master, you really must save my girl this time. Whatever you ask of me, I’ll do it, just as long as you save my daughter!”
Jiangli stopped in her tracks and turned to look at him, “You haven’t found your daughter?”
Wang Xinjun nodded hurriedly, “Just like you said, Master! After hearing your words yesterday, I went to my daughter’s school and asked her teachers and classmates. Only then I found out that my daughter no longer boards there and had moved out, and they said she had a boyfriend, but I didn’t know any of that…”
Yesterday’s words from Jiangli had sent Wang Xinjun into a panic.
He rushed to the school and, learning the truth, he quickly went about asking for his daughter’s current address.
He kept calling his daughter, but she didn’t answer, the phone stating it was out of the service area.
Wang Xinjun became ever more fearful as his right eyelid had been twitching nonstop since he got the news.
He had a vague feeling that something might have happened to his daughter.
So he rushed to seek Jiangli’s help.
But upon his arrival at Jiaoyang Temple, he found the gates firmly shut, and neither Jiangli nor Xia Xin were present.
He called Xia Xin, but got no response.
Just before, Wang Xinjun was nearly frantic.
Fortunately, Jiangli had returned.
“Master, this is the situation now. Can you help me see where my daughter is, whether she’s safe or not?” Wang Xinjun folded his hands together, eyes reddening as he implored, “Master, I beg you, you must help me find my daughter. I’ll pay whatever it costs, just to find her!”
Jiangli looked at him.
Although Wang Xinjun’s palace of children was dim and lusterless, there was no more obvious deterioration.
This meant that his daughter was still safe for now.
However, the palace of children had become more sunken than before, which indicated that his daughter might not last another couple of days.
Seeing this, Jiangli asked gravely, “You don’t know where she has gone, and you’ve been unable to reach her all this time? With the methods you people have nowadays, isn’t there plenty of ways to find someone?”
