She stretched her limbs, "Are they going to live in the future?"
Chen Cheng, with a cigar in hand, replied, "No, Wan Wan was originally looking for a house, and Mei Xiang decided to move out today."
"Wan Wan, Mei Xiang," Shulin snorted lightly, "you seem pretty intimate with them."
"You’re getting jealous again."
Chen Cheng smiled helplessly and sat down next to Wen Shulin, "In my heart, they’re not the same as you, you know that."
Wen Shulin pouted, "I don’t care, I just don’t like hearing you call them so affectionately."
Chen Cheng took hold of Wen Shulin’s hand, "Alright, stop being petulant."
He rubbed the smooth back of her hand, "Now that we’ve met the people and had our meal, what comes next, hmm?"
Chen Cheng chuckled, "I meant, how about a cup of tea? What were you thinking?"
Wen Shulin’s face blushed slightly as she glared at Chen Cheng, "You’re always so hard to deal with."
She stood up, "Come on, what are we still doing here?"
The two of them walked out of the restaurant and arrived at the pavilion, where Chen Cheng began to boil water and prepare the tea.
As Wen Shulin looked around the mansion hidden away within the city, she commented, "This place is really nice."
"If you like it, then stay."
Wen Shulin turned to look at Chen Cheng, "But I’m not keen."
She sat back down next to Chen Cheng, legs draped over his, her high heels swaying, "I’m not like those two girls, not cohabitating with you."
Chen Cheng handed her a cup of tea, "That’s why I say, Sister Lin is truly Sister Lin."
"Your sweet talk, wonder how many girls have been tricked by it."
"I only pamper you, you know that," Chen Cheng, leaning back in his chair, took a sip of his tea, "You’re the most special."
The corners of Wen Shulin’s mouth lifted slightly, "You’d better be. By the way, how’s your private fund doing?"
"Not bad, Xiao Hai found some office locations today; we plan to check them out in person," Chen Cheng put down his teacup, "What about you? Have you been busy?"
"I’m terribly busy," Wen Shulin replied wearily: "Every day I get home late, and then I can’t fall asleep in bed, thinking about many things."
She rested her head on Chen Cheng’s shoulder, at least for this moment, she felt at ease.
"I originally thought taking over CGG would be the end of it. Turns out, it’s just the beginning."
Chen Cheng, listening to Wen Shulin’s chatter, was very aware that being a listener was the best support he could offer her.
He wrapped an arm around Wen Shulin’s shoulder, "If it’s too tiring, take a break."
"I can’t be as carefree as you, stopping whenever I want. Your private equity firm needs looking after too, don’t just talk about me."
Chen Cheng grinned sheepishly, "My private fund relies on you, my capable wife, right?"
"Who’s your capable wife, stop spouting nonsense."
Wen Shulin retorted verbally, yet her laughter was unmistakable.
Just then, a breeze swept through the night, causing Wen Shulin to shiver.
Seeing this, Chen Cheng hurriedly took off his jacket and draped it over her, "It gets cool at night, don’t catch a cold."
Wen Shulin didn’t refuse and wrapped the jacket tighter around her, "This wind blows and I feel a lot clearer. Sometimes I really wish there was a paradise where I could hide from the world’s clamor."
"A paradise? Then you wouldn’t be Chairman Wen anymore, you might not be used to that," Chen Cheng said with a chuckle.
"Hmph, who knows. If there really was such a place, with no work, no competition, just basking in the sun and reading books every day, that would be wonderful," Wen Shulin revealed a hint of longing in her eyes.
She pursed her lips and glanced at the time, "Alright, it’s time for me to head back."
She stood up, "I’ll take the clothes with me, come and get it when you’re free."
"Aren’t you staying?" Chen Cheng teased.
Wen Shulin moved closer to Chen Cheng’s mouth, stood on her tiptoes, and kissed him gently like a dragonfly skimming water, then slightly stepped back.
She said with a smile: "This is your reward and your punishment."
Chen Cheng burst into laughter, "Come on, I’ll see you out."
"Alright, but my driver has gone back," Wen Shulin remarked nonchalantly.
Chen Cheng laughed, "It’s perfect, I haven’t had any alcohol."
"Forget it, you better stay here and take care of your three."
"I didn’t say I was driving you. At most I’d walk you to the door, help you call a cab."
"You, you, you! Humph!"
Their laughter echoed in the tranquil garden, their way of being together, unique from anyone else’s.
