Medical Examiner Can Revive the Dead Chapter 4

"Are you sure... this is your autopsy report?"

The next morning, Officer Hu held the autopsy report that Lin Rui had given him, looking oddly at Lin Rui and Zhang Feng who stood before him.

Zhang Feng had spent an entire night talking to finally persuade Lin Rui.

Lin Rui adjusted her half-rim glasses with professionalism and nodded to Officer Hu, saying:

"That’s right."

"This is the conclusion Zhang Feng and I reached after a night of hard work."

Zhang Feng pouted.

Officer Hu raised an eyebrow:

"I certainly wouldn’t doubt that you two worked hard all night..."

Lin Rui: !!!

"Who are you calling a couple?!"

Officer Hu didn’t take the bait and continued:

"There’s something off about your autopsy report, isn’t there?"

"What’s wrong with it?"

Lin Rui took the autopsy report in her hand and said:

"The victim’s identity, time of death, cause of death, it’s all clearly written, isn’t this very detailed?"

Hu Jingguang said with a strange expression:

"Don’t you think this report is a bit too detailed?"

Lin Rui paused: "Isn’t being detailed a good thing?"

Officer Hu spoke again:

"I understand... but what’s with the murderer’s ID number?!"

Lin Rui and Zhang Feng were taken aback when they heard this.

Lin Rui swiftly began to check the autopsy report.

It turned out that on the report for this body, not only was there the victim’s name and ID number, but even the murderer’s name had a string of numbers next to it!

Seeing this string of numbers, Zhang Feng’s eye twitched as he thought:

"Damn, it’s bad enough the victim was so poor, but why was there time to remember someone else’s ID number?!"

Lin Rui’s expression also stiffened at this moment.

She had focused on listening to Zhang Feng’s nonsense all night.

She hadn’t carefully checked this report herself.

Originally thinking that what the victim had written would be much more detailed than their autopsy report, providing much more evidence.

Never thought they would overlook this detail.

Having the murderer’s name on an autopsy report was already bizarre, now the murderer’s ID number too?

Can you tell me which coroner can find that out through an autopsy?

Subsequently, Lin Rui’s gaze moved stiffly to Zhang Feng’s face.

That look seemed to say "You’re on your own now."

"Ahem." Lin Rui coughed and said to Officer Hu:

"The entire autopsy process last night was conducted by Zhang Feng, and the report was written by him as well. If there’s any problem, you should ask him."

Zhang Feng: ???

Seriously, is that disloyal of you?!

Facing Officer Hu’s scrutinizing gaze, Zhang Feng began to stammer.

"Uh... um..."

"Officer Hu, you forget thousands of things every day, so why not forget about this too?"

Officer Hu and Lin Rui’s eyes were filled with resentment.

And it made Officer Hu couldn’t help but say:

"Xiao Zhang, do you even listen to what you are saying?"

"Ahem...," Zhang Feng also felt how weak his earlier statement was.

But how to explain this?

Zhang Feng had cursed the victim from yesterday seven or eight times in his heart!

Right now, he really wanted to return to the morgue and have that corpse get up, so he could punch it twenty times.

As Zhang Feng’s mind spun rapidly considering a solution.

Officer Hu’s suspicious voice arose:

"Zhang Feng, could it be..."

Zhang Feng paused slightly!

Could Officer Hu know I’m a Daoist, and yesterday I raised the corpse?

Did he watch yesterday’s surveillance video?

But didn’t Director Lin say the footage had been deleted?

What’s going on?

Even Lin Rui seemed a bit puzzled, thinking to herself:

"Could it be that Officer Hu figured out Zhang Feng’s identity? Or does he know about some supernatural power, and Zhang Feng is actually a Daoist?!"

Seeing the determined expression on Officer Hu’s face, Zhang Feng knew there was no way to explain, he couldn’t avoid it, so he helplessly nodded and said:

"I am..."

"You’re admitting it?!" Officer Hu’s voice rose a few notches.

Officer Hu’s current state further confirmed Zhang Feng and Lin Rui’s suspicions.

Lin Rui looked at Zhang Feng, her eyes seemed to say: "See, you wanted me to keep it secret, now, Officer Hu figured it out on his own!"

Zhang Feng knew that his attempt to hide his identity was a complete failure!

So he opted for breaking the jar and said:

"Alright, I’ll lay everything out, I’m actually a..." but before Zhang Feng could say the word "Daoist," Officer Hu’s voice came again:

"I didn’t expect it, you’re really investigating cases secretly at night?"

"Did you hack into the victim’s file when none of us were around and investigate all the clues, concluding that the killer was someone close to the victim, and wrote this in the report?"

"I didn’t expect you to be not just a forensic specialist, but also a detective!"

"Huh?!"

Both Lin Rui and Zhang Feng exclaimed in surprise.

What kind of thinking does this detective officer have?!

Officer Hu scratched the back of his head in confusion and said:

"What? Is there a problem?"

"No!" Zhang Feng quickly agreed and went along with it.

Following Officer Hu’s narrative, he said:

"Officer Hu, you’re truly a seasoned detective; you even figured this out..."

"You won’t blame me for accessing the files without your permission, right?"

"Hahahahaha!" Officer Hu immediately beamed with joy.

"Of course, I won’t blame you, I didn’t expect you had such ability!"

"Not only will I not blame you, but if this case is solved, your contribution will be recognized as the most significant!"

"Enough said, it’s the first time I’ve seen such a detailed autopsy report; it’s really made this case much easier to solve. I’ll gather the team to prepare for the arrest now!"

After saying this, Officer Hu waved to Lin Rui, turned around and left to organize the operation.

Watching Officer Hu’s departing figure, Zhang Feng breathed a slight sigh of relief.

But he couldn’t help but comment:

"I now know why our branch’s case-solving rate is so low."

Lin Rui nodded in agreement, folding her arms:

"I know too."

However, the two of them were completely unaware.

After Officer Hu disappeared around the corner of the hallway.

The smile on Officer Hu’s face vanished instantly.

Replaced by profound confusion and seriousness.

Looking at the autopsy report in his hands, Officer Hu pondered for a few seconds before entering his office, calling:

"Xiao Wang, gather the team, prepare for action!"

"Yes!"

The division’s detective department sprang into action.

However, when Officer Hu saw a young and attractive female officer in the corner, he raised his hand and called:

"Xiao Hu, you don’t need to join this operation for now; come with me, I have a special assignment for you."

The female officer addressed as Xiao Hu paused slightly, but still followed Officer Hu.

The two of them came to an unoccupied place, Xiao Hu spoke first:

"Dad, what’s wrong?"

This Xiao Hu, surprisingly, was Officer Hu’s daughter, Hu Huixin.

Officer Hu patted Hu Huixin’s shoulder and spoke in a low voice:

"Do you remember that a young forensic doctor just joined our division yesterday?"

"Of course, I remember!" Hu Huixin replied cheerfully: "He’s that handsome guy!"

Officer Hu’s face carried an expression of indescribable complexity!

But he continued:

"The task I’m about to assign you is related to him!"
