Mercenary’s War Chapter 855

855: Chapter 845: Capture the Flag_2 855: Chapter 845: Capture the Flag_2 Tommy shifted the gun’s muzzle and whispered softly, “Fire!”

Jansen loaded another shell.

The second machine gun position was obliterated, while just then, two three-man mortar teams had just set the base plates for the mortars, but hadn’t mounted them yet.

At the sound of the third cannon, the two crews had completed the assembly of the mortars and were frantically cranking the handles to adjust the muzzle.

By the fourth cannon shot, one machine gun position was blasted away, and at that point, the other two mortar teams finally fired their mortars.

While Nate led his men and was still not within five hundred meters of the enemy’s kill line, six machine gun positions had already been taken out.

Nate knew Tommy was an excellent gunner, but he couldn’t help turning his head to glance at the mortar positions.

As the three mortars opened fire together, ten machine gun positions were quickly swept away, and by this time, Gao Yang and his men had just reached a position six hundred meters from the enemy lines.

Gao Yang shouted to Nate beside him, “Can I shoot now?”

Nate shouted back, “Yes, target the targets with red markers!”

Gao stopped running, knelt on one knee, and began firing.

On the position, among every ten densely packed regular targets, there was a target with a red marker at the top, signifying the enemy’s sharpshooters.

As long as they came within a five-hundred-meter range, the presence of red targets on the enemy position would cause a member of their side to be declared dead every thirty seconds randomly.

If Nate, the commanding officer, were chosen, it would indeed be a stroke of luck, as it would mean immediate failure and the end of the simulation.

Gao targeted only targets with red markers.

As he knelt and shot, his squad immediately spread out, giving him a clear field of fire and continued to advance.

At six hundred meters, the enemy’s machine gun and mortar positions were deemed resolved by their mortars; even casual shooting wouldn’t result in their being declared dead, making Gao feel that hitting stationary targets was too dull.

When Nate and his men got within five hundred and fifty meters of the enemy positions, Gao had already cleared all the red targets responsible for their squad.

By the time Nate and his men reached the five hundred-meter line, Gao had eliminated all red targets within his shooting range.

The speed of the advancing formation couldn’t be as fast as a hundred-meter dash; covering a hundred meters took almost twenty seconds, during which Gao knocked down fourteen targets, completing everything a marksman could do.

Gao stood up and started to catch up with his squad.

The next part was much simpler, with certain casualties, they would advance within four hundred meters, then everyone would open fire, clearing the enemy positions of targets and continue forward.

As they again advanced and got closer to the enemy positions, the observer following close behind Nate suddenly shouted, “The enemy has added two hidden fire points, plus three armored vehicles and a tank!

Each target exists for a second, declares five of your men dead!”

Nate wasn’t in a rush and immediately shouted loudly, “Missiles!

In truth, whether it was the temporarily added hidden fire points or the sudden appearance of tanks and armored vehicles, they had all become commonplace.

Anti-tank missiles and rocket launchers were definitely necessary.

When the targets suddenly erected from the ground, the anti-tank missiles and rocket launchers were fired almost immediately.

After the decision that ten men had perished, the final obstacle was cleared.

The combat part ended, and as Nate led the remaining group of more than a hundred men across a white line marked on the ground, he immediately yelled, “Two men in a pair check each other, remove the magazines, clear the chambers, quick!”

This was live ammunition training.

Again, two troops competed for the Hexagram Flag to prevent the teams from arriving almost simultaneously and to avoid a situation where excited soldiers could fire real bullets at their rivals.

The bullets absolutely had to be removed for safety, and the final check was simple: If even one person hadn’t cleared their chamber, it was a loss.

After swiftly clearing their chambers, Nate yelled out, “Charge!”

More than a hundred men sprinted forward.

When the main force reached the top of a small hill and saw their opponents appear almost simultaneously on the other side, Nate immediately roared, “Stop them!

The symbol of victory was indeed a flag, not a red one but a Hexagram Flag, and its placement was particularly tricky.

Not only was it placed at the peak of the highest hill, but to snatch the flag, one had to climb to the top of a tall flagpole, which was nothing more than a thick wooden stake.

Gao Yang thought they were fast, but the opponents were almost just as quick.

The two sides encountered each other right at the base of the flagpole.

Following Nate’s shout, both sides instantly clashed fiercely.

The flag had to be captured by the highest commander, but since both sides were dressed as ordinary soldiers and had their faces camouflaged, it was almost impossible to identify the opposing commander, and anyone who wasn’t the highest commander couldn’t ascend.

Thus, both teams fought intensely right at the base of the flagpole.

Guns couldn’t be thrown aside, and disregarding the opponent to climb directly to the flagpole was not allowed.

To secure the flag, the opposing forces had to be taken down.

Li Jinfang and two other strong fighters had to subtly get Nate to the flagpole without drawing attention, lest the rivals notice and rush to tackle Nate first.

When Nate finally got to the flagpole, he discovered the opposing major.

They had reached the flagpole almost simultaneously, and at that moment, their escorts were already entangled in combat.

Both sides were skilled; it wasn’t possible to take the opponent down instantaneously.

As Nate’s opponent lunged fiercely at him, Nate kicked out, striking the commanding officer’s groin and causing him to collapse instantly.

With several people blocking the frenzied assault from the opponents as cover, Nate rapidly climbed to the top of the flagpole, grabbed the Hexagram Flag and yelled from atop the flagpole, “We’ve won!”

While furiously waving the Hexagram Flag from the top of the flagpole, Nate also shouted, “The exercise is over, on your ground, we are the victors.”

Nate had reason to be proud; he had visited this training ground, but it was the first time the new soldiers from Brigade 20 were at this location.

The troops from Brigade 202, even though new, were familiar with the training field.

If they hadn’t performed exceptionally well, they wouldn’t have been faster than their opponents.

With victory and defeat declared, the fighting quickly ceased.

Gao Yang’s team naturally was jubilant, while the opponents were as silent as death.

Amid the cheering, a man roared in pain, “F**k!

You son of a bitch, you lowlife scoundrel!

This isn’t over, you sly despicable ass!”

Only another major could dare to curse at a major like that, and among those present, the only other major could only be the one that Nate had just downed with a Groin Kick.

Nate shouted down, “Shut up!

You should be thankful I didn’t turn you into a eunuch!

And you should be thankful I spared you a bit of mercy!

Do you understand!” (To be continued.
