MMA System: I Will Be Pound For Pound Goat Chapter 771

The day ended quietly.

Word had already reached the house by the time Damon got back. Leo's injury had spread through whispers and murmurs, but now it was confirmed. He wouldn't be fighting. His tournament was over.

Most of the fighters stayed in their rooms. There was no celebration, no talk of advantage. Just a quiet respect for the situation.

Leo sat alone in the backyard, hoodie on, one leg propped up on the bench as he iced his knee.

The swelling was still visible through the wrap, and he hadn't said much all evening.

Ayo passed by the window, glanced out, then stepped outside.

He approached slowly.

Leo heard the steps but didn't turn.

"You alright?" Ayo asked.

Leo exhaled. "Could be worse. But yeah."

Ayo sat on the ledge nearby, elbows on his knees. "Sorry it had to end ."

Leo finally looked over. "You didn't do it."

They sat in silence for a moment. Just the hum of the backyard lights and the faint sound of the house TV playing inside.

"I thought I could tape it up and push through," Leo said. "But doctor said I might tear the whole thing if I do."

Ayo nodded. "Then it's not worth it."

Leo smiled faintly. "Yeah… but it still stings. I was two wins away."

"I know," Ayo replied. "You'll be back, though."

Leo leaned back against the wall and stared up at the dark sky.

"Hope so. Just sucks, you know? All this training, all this pressure, and then… poof."

Ayo didn't argue. He just sat there with him.

Inside, a few others moved around. José tossed his gloves into his duffel bag. Kaito was finishing a protein shake in the kitchen. Zulu had a towel draped over his shoulders as he leaned back on the couch, still breathing deep from sparring.

Theo hadn't come back yet. Damon had kept him late, running wall work and reaction drills.

Upstairs, Ronny and Max were watching fight tape on a phone, commenting low and pausing every few minutes to talk angles.

But no one interrupted Leo's space.

He sat out there until the lights dimmed and only the porch glow remained.

Eventually, he stood with effort, bracing the knee.

He walked inside slowly, passing by Ayo.

"Good luck, man," he said.

Ayo met his eyes. "Thanks."

Leo nodded and went upstairs to pack. His tournament was over.

And tomorrow, camp would continue without him.

The week passed quietly. No big announcements. No noise from the UFA.

Leo Varga had left without fanfare. His locker was cleared, his name removed from the training rotation.

No replacement was brought in. Everyone in the house understood what that meant. The bracket was set.

Ayo Fasusi moved into the semifinals by default.

It wasn't how he wanted to earn it. He trained hard and stayed ready, but an injury took away his chance to prove it inside the cage. Still, a win was a win. His name moved forward.

The lightweight bracket now belonged to Damon.

All remaining fighters were from his team, Ronny McGregor, Max Taylor, Kenji Sato, and now Ayo.

That meant no matter what happened from here, Damon would coach a finalist and a winner in that division. His lightweight squad had swept the bracket.

But in the middleweight division, things were different.

That one was still contested.

Ivan's team had already secured two semifinal spots. Thami Zulu had shocked the house with his dominant finish.

Chase Dunham had won his own fight, gritty and relentless. Both had earned their place.

Damon had one middleweight in the semifinals, José Alvarez, the Brazilian striker with knockout power and sharp fundamentals. That made three out of four semifinal spots filled.

Only one slot remained.

And it would come down to Theo Brunner versus Arman Petrov.

Brunner was Damon's last middleweight. Powerful, athletic, but still learning how to tie it all together. Petrov was Ivan's pick, a Russian grappler with discipline, experience, and a heavy top game.

He hadn't fought yet, but he trained like someone who knew exactly what he was here to do.

If Petrov won, Ivan would control three of the four semifinalists in the middleweight bracket.

Just like Damon had done in the lightweight class. That meant whichever way the tournament went, both coaches would have a real shot at ending the season with a division win.

But if Brunner won, the playing field would be even, two from Damon, two from Ivan. A real test of coaching.

Damon stood near the cage wall, watching Brunner grind through cage wrestling drills.

He barked instructions, correcting foot position, shoulder pressure, and wrist control. Brunner moved with urgency. He knew what was at stake.

The news hit the media quickly.

Once Leo Varga's withdrawal was confirmed and no replacement announced, social media lit up. Within hours, Chirper was flooded with reactions.

Fans, analysts, fighters, everyone had something to say.

BREAKING: Leo Varga officially out of the lightweight bracket due to injury. No replacement confirmed. Ayo Fasusi advances to the semifinals. Huge implications for Team Damon. #SUFWorld #FightCamp

Damon Cross just secured a guaranteed finalist, and winner, in the lightweight division. All four remaining lightweights are his. You cannot make this up. #CrossEra

People talked about Damon being a great fighter. But this? All four semifinalists in one weight class? That's next-level coaching. #DamonEffect

Feel bad for Leo but bruh... Damon just cleared an entire bracket. Ain't no coach ever done that before. Ever. #CleanSweep

Injuries suck, but props to Ayo Fasusi for staying ready. Kid's been a sleeper all season. Now he's two wins from the trophy. #FightReady #AyoWatch

Some say it's luck. Others say it's strategy. Whatever it is, Damon Cross might be having the greatest coaching season in Supreme Fighter history. #LegacyBuilding

Damon lucky. One injury and now y'all acting like he planned it. Petrov still coming. Zulu still standing. #TeamIvan

This isn't just about the fighters. Damon trained these guys with purpose. Strategy. Gameplans. They didn't just win, they dominated. #CoachingMatters

"If they gotta fight each other, I still win." Damon Cross (allegedly)

Nigeria's Ayo Fasusi guaranteed a semifinal spot. Africa is watching. 🇳🇬🔥 #TeamAyo #AfricanPower

Four Damon's lightweights still in. One will be champ. Only question: who bleeds less getting there? #DamonVsDamon

Fun fact: The last time a coach had 3 fighters in semis was 2014. Damon now has four in one weight class. #NumbersDon'tLie

I don't even care if it's luck. Damon looks fine coaching a winning team. Let the man win. 😂🔥 #SUFWorld
