MMORPG: Rebirth Of The Strongest Assassin Chapter 82

As long as he completed the sort of quest that is disguised in a recommendation Richard gave him, Requiem would finally have the means to stake his claim in Golden Card City.

Indeed!

What Yone thought of as a recommendation letter turned out to be some sort of quest from what he was seeing right now, with the NPC going into the story monologue kind of stuff.

Even he was a bit stunned why the recommendation letter was not deleted after he stepped through the gate using his noble title, unlike the recommendation letter of Overseer Rakan, but it turned out to be some sort of quest.

’Well, guess this has a thing to do with pieces of land, etc, or else I wouldn’t be here,’ Yone guessed since Chester was someone of that domain more or so.

But what he found surprising was that both NPCs gave him some quests before he left the town, which shows that having favorability with NPCs, no matter where you go, is always a good thing and shouldn’t be neglected throughout one’s journey.

And that "means"... well, did it even need to be spelled out?

For any newcomer to the city, nothing was more valuable than securing a piece of real estate. And not just any property, if he had to think about it, he was aiming for one of the noble estates right in the center of the Trade District. Owning one meant more than just prestige. It was the gateway to establishing a Guild Residence.

For a Guild, a Residence was everything. It wasn’t just a base, it was the core of progression.

Guild Residences functioned as private zones, offering huge perks to members. Chief among them: a leveling boost and access to exclusive Resident Quests. Members who rested there could earn a Double EXP buff.

Whether grinding or questing, that bonus made a massive difference.

The catch? You had to stay and rest for it to kick in. Spending 48 in-game hours inside would net you a 20% EXP boost, and the bonus could scale up to a full level’s worth. For players burned out from constant fighting, it was an irresistible feature.

Then there were the daily Resident Quests, tasks handed out by the local NPCs within the Guild’s territory. These weren’t your average fetch quests. The rewards were serious: materials, rare items, even the occasional Gold items drop.

On top of that, each completed quest added to the Guild’s reputation and funds, with 20% of the payout going straight to the Guild. Even with members keeping 80% of the earnings, the value far surpassed that of most high-level missions.

Beyond the obvious perks, a Guild Residence came with countless other functions, too many to ignore. In truth, it was the beating heart of any serious Guild.

But getting one wasn’t easy.

Even top-tier Guilds usually had to wait over a month after the launch of Eclipse Online to claim a single Residence. For mid- and lower-tier Guilds, it took even longer. Four months in, many third-rate Guilds were still stuck without a base of their own.

In Requiem’s previous life, the Guild Guardian Angels didn’t secure its first Residence until seven months in. By then, most players were already pushing Level 50. The place they finally locked down? A backwater city with a modest player population. But that moment marked their turning point, the moment they stepped onto the map as a proper Guild.

In Eclipse Online, owning a Residence wasn’t just a milestone, it was your official stamp as a real Guild. And how soon did you get one? That told everyone how strong and serious you were.

Requiem’s goal was ambitious: secure a Residence within just fifteen days of entering Golden Card City. The key to making that happen? He will use the recommendation letter from Richard, the mayor of Crystalized Stone Town.

"Still..." Chest studied Requiem carefully, his gaze critical. "You’re not strong enough yet. I don’t know why Richard’s so confident in you, but to me, it’s too early."

Requiem didn’t back down. "With respect, Lord Chester, I believe I’m more than capable of completing the task."

Chest chuckled quietly. That kind of confidence was typical of the young. But time and adversity always brought a reality check. "Very well," he said. "Let’s make a deal."

"If you can pass the test I set for you, I’ll support you and help you fulfill the terms of Richard’s letter. If you fail, don’t come back until you’ve earned your official class. Agreed?"

Requiem fell silent, thinking it over. In his last life, someone had managed to gain private territory at around Level 10, so it wasn’t impossible. But Chester was drawing a hard line: return only after becoming an official class holder.

At the start of Eclipse Online, players began as apprentice—class trainees, essentially. Only after reaching Level 20 could they apply for a class upgrade and take the certification trial. Pass that, and they’d unlock their Tier 1 class.

In Requiem’s case, that meant becoming a true Assassin.

Once certified, he’d gain a serious stat boost, access to Tier 1 skills, and the official Assassin emblem, marking his rise to real power.

If some lucky player at Level 10 had managed to clear this quest in the past, then Requiem had no reason to doubt himself. He was already Level 10, too, and had way more means to go beyond it; he was well past that threshold, and unlike most, he was fully geared in high-quality equipment. There was no reason he couldn’t handle whatever challenge lay ahead.

"I accept your trial, Lord Chest," Requiem said with a firm nod.

He then couldn’t help but ask," With all due respect, why didn’t I see the terms in Richard’s letter that you spoke of? Like he didn’t reveal anything to me, and I didn’t even know things would come down this way, and I’ll be sent on a mission."

Yone wouldn’t reject a piece of land since he could easily entail that rewards were as such or else Chester wouldn’t be in the picture, but what he didn’t understand was why the middle-aged man back in the town was silent about it.

Chester chuckled hearing his words and replied to his concern since moving forward, he did indeed need to inform him of a few details about Richard and himself and most importantly...

The Mission!
