“Jian Qing, I already told you I have a boyfriend. You’re truly misunderstanding me.” She diverted her gaze, speaking firmly.
Jian Qing smirked, “Say what you will. In any case, I’ve stated my stand today, whether or not you take it to heart is all up to you.”
Having said that, she turned and walked away.
Watching her silhouette disappear from her sight, Song Xirou clenched her teeth hard, her body trembling uncontrollably in rage.

Upon returning to the living room, Jian Qing heard Rhee and the old Mrs. Quan discussing gifts with Quan Jingwu.
“Sister-in-law, I heard that you are taking Jingwu to meet your parents?” Quan Mingxuan smirked as he saw that Song Xirou didn’t follow them back.
Jian Qing walked in, giving him a roll of her eyes.
How dare he keep calling her sister-in-law?
She had just taken her seat when Song Xirou returned.
“Mrs. Quan, I’m feeling a bit unwell, I’m going home first.” She picked up her bag and spoke softly.
“So early, aren’t you staying for lunch?” Mrs. Quan asked persuasively.
She shook her head, “No, maybe next time.”
“I’ll have the driver send you.”
“No need, I’ve already called my driver, he will be here soon.”
“Be careful then,” Mrs. Quan said.
Song Xirou smiled sweetly, picked up her bag, and exited the room in her high heels.
As soon as she left, Quan Mingxuan felt as if the air around him had freshened up considerably.
“Jingwu, the Imperial Academy will be holding a school celebration the day after tomorrow, do you want to go?” With that, Quan Mingxuan pulled open a drawer and took out an invitation.
“Here, my father asked me to give this to you.”
“School celebration?” Jian Qing turned towards the man next to her, curiously asking, “Xiaojing, did you go to college in Beijing?”
Quan Jingwu glanced at the invitation, showing no interest.
Quan Mingxuan saw his reaction and knew this young master had no interest in this school celebration.
However, his father had instructed him to find a way to bring him along.
Given this command, he must at least try to persuade him, or else he would be nagged by his father.
He turned his gaze to Jian Qing. “Jian Qing, Jingwu and we all went to high school at the Imperial Academy, but he didn’t continue there for college.”
All four of them went to high school at the Imperial Academy, but the man in front of her, was clearly the type to break ranks and skip grades, a legend in the school.
“Why?” Jian Qing looked at Quan Jingwu in doubt, asking, “Did you go abroad for university?”
She didn’t know much about Beijing, but she knew that the Imperial Academy was the best institution in China, with all its graduates being elite talents. She remembered that Yifei had told her she also graduated from there.
Quan Jingwu lightly patted her head, nodding, “In Y Country.”
“Jian Qing, Jingwu only attended high school for a year, I reckon the total days he actually went to school in that year wasn’t even a full year.” Quan Mingxuan playfully looked at Quan Jingwu, interjecting with a smirk, “However, even so, Jingwu was quite the character at school, and there were plenty of beautiful girls giving him love letters.”
Rhee by their side chuckled lightly.
“Beautiful girls?” Jian Qing raised her eyebrow.
So it seemed Xiaojing had been attracting the bees and butterflies since he was a little boy!
“I only have you.” Quan Jingwu looked at her tenderly, pinching her cheek.
Quan Mingxuan felt goosebumps rise on his skin at their display of affection, he feigned annoyance and rubbed his hands together.
Damn, they were so mushy!
Rhee and Mrs. Quan exchanged smiles, apparently quite happy to see their display of affection.
Jian Qing slapped his hand away, looked up at Quan Mingxuan, and asked, “How many love letters? Did he take any?”
“How many?” Quan Mingxuan stroked his chin, pondered for a moment, and replied, “I never counted, but his drawer was always filled with those and they all ended up in the school trash bin.”
He couldn’t help laughing as he reached the end of his sentence.
In the past, he and Amo made a special effort to prank Jingwu using those love letters. They even read them out loud in front of him. As a result, they nearly got beaten up by him that night.
Jian Qing laughed, she turned to Quan Jingwu and jokingly asked, “Xiaojing, why didn’t you keep some of those letters?”
Quan Jingwu knocked on her head and smirked, “Naughty.”
Jian Qing changed her gaze, grabbed his hand and said, “Xiaojing, let’s go to the school celebration together the day after tomorrow.”
She wasn’t there in his past, but she wanted to see.
“Yes, Jingwu, Jian Qing has been in Beijing for a while now, and she hasn’t visited the Imperial Academy yet. The school celebration will have lots of activities, it would be nice to bring Jian Qing along.” Quan Mingxuan added quickly.
Quan Jingwu ignored him, met her watery eyes, and chuckled lightly, “You really want to go?”
“Yes.” Jian Qing nodded.
“Alright then, let’s go.” He said indulgently.
Quan Mingxuan silently looked up at the sky with an expression of resignation.
This was obviously favouritism.
After all his persuasive words, nothing worked as well as her simple ‘want to go’.
Well, this was the insincere relationship of plastic siblings.
After lunch, Jian Qing and Quan Jingwu stayed at the old mansion for an afternoon nap, and left when it was almost dusk.
However, they didn’t return to Shijin Haoting, instead, they went on a date.
The first stop on their date was naturally the movies, an idea suggested by Quan Mingxuan, the veteran of the dating scene.
In the cinema, the two didn’t book a private screening, but instead bought popcorn and drinks like a normal couple.
Although they didn’t book the entire cinema, one gentleman with cleanliness issues bought out an entire row of seats.
Jian Qing held a large tub of popcorn in her arms, the movie hadn’t started yet, but she was already happily eating away, occasionally even feeding Quan Jingwu a few pieces.
Quan Jingwu swallowed the popcorn in his mouth, looking helplessly at the eager eater beside him. He truly didn’t understand what was so tasty about popcorn.
“Xiaojing, it’s starting.” She reminded him.
So he should stop looking at her.
