Zhan Mingyan lowered her head, fiddling with her recovered bracelet, and secretly observed the man driving beside her.
“Hey Plain Jane, are you dazzled by my good looks?” Bai Jue asked with an insolent smirk, controlling the steering wheel with one hand.
“You can look directly, you don’t have to sneak peeks. I am very generous,” he continued.
Zhan Mingyan’s face turned red, whether from embarrassment or anger, it was hard to tell.

“Just drive.”
Bai Jue smirked, moving even closer to her. “You said I’m ugly?”
“So what if you’re ugly? Can’t I state the obvious?” Zhan Mingyan glared at him defiantly, avoiding his gaze.
“Plain Jane, you sure have guts,” Bai Jue teased, gently holding her chin, his touch light.
“Pervert!” Zhan Mingyan swatted his hand away angrily, puffing up her cheeks to glare at him.
Bai Jue smirked, “Calling me a pervert, yet you still dared to get in my car.”
Zhan Mingyan clenched her teeth, giving him a cold hum and then turning her head away to ignore him.
Seeing her reaction, Bai Jue decided to drop the conversation and focused on driving.
As dusk fell, the sky turned auburn, bathing the sea in golden light.
The moment Bai Jue parked the car, his phone rang.
Picking up the call, he heard Han Yue’s voice on the other end.
“Bai Jue, where are you?”
Bai Jue glanced at the woman beside him unbuckling her seatbelt and replied with a smirk, “Picked up a stray kitten, planning on taking it home.”
Upon hearing his words, Zhan Mingyan’s expression froze.
Unaware of her downcast mood, Bai Jue jovially continued his conversation with Han Yue.
“Are you and Axuan at Dihao?”
“Yeah, a few hotties just arrived at Dihao. Want to come over and check them out?” On the other end, Han Yue was lazing on a couch, a curvy beauty nestled in his arms.
As the sea breeze roared, Han Yue’s words echoed in Zhan Mingyan’s ears. She thought back to the scene she saw at Dihao’s private room—it was Bai Jue with beauties hanging all over him, and he seemed to be enjoying it.

Without flowery language, she plainly confessed her feelings for him.

He was as passing as the wind; love did not belong to him.

In shock, she gaped at him.
“Zhan Mingyan, you…” As Bai Jue saw her saddened expression, he wanted to offer some comforting words.
Before he could speak, she suddenly laughed.
She blinked, pushing away the tears welling in her eyes, and beamed at him. “Hahaha, Bai Jue, got fooled by me, didn’t you? Pretty good acting, huh?”
Bai Jue looked at her skeptically, “You were acting just now?”
She suppressed the dull pain in her chest and smiled, “Of course, you’ve tricked me so many times, it’s about time I tricked you back. It seems my acting was quite successful.”
“So, when you said you like me…” Bai Jue trailed off.
Zhan Mingyan interrupted him, “Of course it’s fake. With your vanity and nasty mouth, how could I ever like you? I was just playing around.”
As he didn’t have feelings for her, naturally she was just playing around.
Well, it seemed it was all just wishful thinking on her part.
Bai Jue saw the smile on her face and breathed a sigh of relief, joking, “Zhan Mingyan, it would be a waste if you didn’t become an actress.”
“Hahaha!” Zhan Mingyan laughed even harder, covering her sadness with an exaggerated laugh.
“I was thinking the same thing. Maybe I should become an actress in the future.”
