On top of the city wall, the piercing alarm resonated, rows of soldiers in Black Armor stood in strict formation, eyes shining with a dark gleam, reflecting all sorts of emotions.
Some showed panic, others anger, some had a resolve for death, and still others held the unwillingness of having things unseen and undone.
But as they saw the surging tide of demons coming like floodwater, covering the hills and blanketing the sky, they displayed only resolve!
Iron Armor Cold Light clanged noisily.
The first row of Armored Soldiers shouted in unison as they drew their swords, the blades gleaming. Then they patted their bodies, and streaks of Protective Golden Light lit up, hovering over the surface of their armor.
The second row of Armored Soldiers stepped forward quickly in unison, extending their Long Spears with True Qi surging atop them, exuding a cold, fierce air with several feet of Qi swirling around them.
The third row of Armored Soldiers leaned back slightly, drawing bows and fitting arrows, each adorned with a Flame Blast Talisman. Explosions rang out, the bowstrings sounded terrifyingly like thunder, and iron rain filled the sky, sharp wails tearing through the air, hitting demon figures one after another, followed by sparks of fire blossoming in the void.
Almost simultaneously, one demon shadow after another leaped onto the city wall, their sinister eyes filled with malice, claws out, fiercely charging.
A thrust of the Long Spear, with True Qi spewing forth, created beams of light as thick as bowls, blasting the climbing Demon Soldiers down from the city wall.
Sword light flickered, a swath of Sword Qi tens of meters long slashed across the front, and instantly bloody flesh splattered, a dozen Demon Soldiers slayed on the spot.
A Leading Military Officer stood atop the city wall, roaring in fury, leading the charge. He surged into the lower sky, unleashing rolling waves of Sword Qi, slash after slash shooting directly, cutting down Green Sparrow and Feiyi Demon Soldiers in the air, and afterward spewing a great fire down below, engulfing several Demons within it.
In a flash, between the two mountains, along the darkly stretching walls spanning several miles, rows of Cold Light Iron Armor surged with Protective Golden Light. They stepped forward in unison, their swords raised one after another, marching into the melee against the densely packed Demon Soldiers.
In a moment, the Demon Soldiers clashed with the Ninth Mountain Troops.
Instantly, the sound of piercing flesh erupted, and in no time at all, swords and flesh flew together.
A Qi Cultivating Armor Soldier with a fierce gaze bellowed angrily, drawing the twin swords from his waist and charging at two Second Realm Night Foxes that had climbed onto the wall. His Sword Qi was like a raging storm, slashing wildly, severely wounding one of the Night Foxes.
The two white-furred Night Foxes let out piercing, strange screams, their fur bristling, and then each spat out a ball of black air from their mouths.
The soldier slashed through the black air, charging forward, but the two Demon Foxes disappeared without a trace.
In that moment of distraction, a sharp pain suddenly came from his left arm. A black line appeared along the limb, and with a "clang," his arm was severed, dropping his long sword to the side.
The Protective Golden Light seemed to have been corroded by some poison, failing to serve any purpose.
Despite the intense pain, the Armored Soldier clenched his teeth, then quickly vibrated his feet, causing his other sword to spring up. Catching it in his mouth, his eyes blazed with fury. He bore the claw piercing his belly, then, as if mad, opened his mouth wide and bit down on the thinnest part of the Ear Rat’s neck scales, his mouth bursting with blood, then his throat shone brightly, True Qi furiously spewed out.
