Patriarch Calcetti asked in defiance, "So what if I gave him a third rank weapon? Is it against the rules? What right do you have to claim that I cheated if the sects are fine with it?"
Then he shot back, "If you have to blame someone, then you can only blame yourself for not giving the children of your family third-rank weapons or blame your children for not being able to use third-rank weapons."
No one would give children at the first mortal coil third rank weapons to use even if they have it because those children wouldn't be able to use it.
Even Arthur, despite his great strength, still can't use a third rank weapon. He doesn't have life force to enhance the power of the arrow or divine sense to animate the arrow and lock onto a target. The best he can do with the bow is to use brute force.
Currently, he is only using at most 10% of what thar golden bow is capable of. This is impressive because someone at the first mortal coil shouldn't have the brute force to be able to use the bow at all.
But 10% is still too small compared to the full capabilities of the third rank weapon. So even if this 10% is enough for Arthur to be able to shoot arrows strong enough to kill tenth transformation beasts of the first mortal coil with defense greater than 2 centimeters of steel at depths beyond 20 meters in the water, Patriarch Calcetti doesn't think he is cheating.
Someone sneered and said, "You meant bastard. You gave a bastard such a valuable weapon. I didn't know that you fellows in the Dyson family valued your bastards above your true children so much."
Patriarch Calcetti shot back, "Oh yeah? You're the one whose family's children were killed with one shot from a bastard from my family."
The patriarchs of the various families began to argue with each other. They had a lot to complain about to Calcetti, be it about Arthur taking advantage of others or eliminating children of other cultivation families.
The other people from the Dyson family in the room kept quiet and listened silently as these big men and women aged with each other. They didn't find the argument exaggerated because the prize pool for the bet was indeed a lot.
Every patriarch had bet with one third rank weapon each. They weren't top-grade, third rank weapons like the bow that Arthur is using. But they are still valuable.
Twenty patriarchs had bet one of these valuable weapons each. So the one who wins will earn 20 third-rank weapons. This is a lot because, in comparison, the Dyson family doesn't have 20 patriarchs. The Dyson family doesn't even have ten patriarchs.
So there is a lot to be gained and lost in this gamble. If they were the ones who had to lose a third rank weapon, they too would argue with patriarch Calcetti about it.
They would try to find fault one way or another, just like these patriarchs are doing. But no matter what anyone said, Patriarch Calcetti didn't budge one bit.
The argument continued for more than 30 minutes. At this point, Arthur had turned his arrow on the examinees on his island.
Arthur began picking off the ones with high scores. Before anyone knew what was going on, Arthur had eliminated 10 people.
By the time they realized what was going on, most of them decided to surrender and run away. Not many people had it in them to confront him in an attempt to stop him.
Not that they needed to do so. Arthur only killed 15 of them. He didn't touch the rest because they weren't worth the effort.
These 15 had only given him about 1,800 performance points. That meant that they had a total of 6,000 points among the 15 of them.
They were high performers, but they had an average performance points of 400 between them. The rest of the examinees were much poorer.
Their poor performance is mostly because he hoarded most of the points available for their island. The islands nearby were also affected by him. They were busy trying to dodge his arrows for them to hunt.
But the other islands too far for him to interfere with had much better performance. Even so, the average performance points were 400 for other islands. Only the high performers were able to reach 900 points.
He continued to hunt until he was eliminated from the test after one hour. Everyone who had been placed on the same island with him was eliminated at the same time. New examinees were then teleported onto the island to replace them.
In that one hour, Arthur himself had earned 19,246 performance points. He was just a few points from 20,000 points. In comparison, the points he needed to reach the 20,000 milestone were more than the total points that 50% of the examinees will earn in this test.
Arthur left the test feeling mostly satisfied. But he felt a little regretful that he wasn't able to reach 20,000 points.
This was a feeling he had in common with everyone who finished the test at that time. Everyone felt some regret that they weren't able to earn more points.
But then some of the examinees also felt regret that they appeared on the same island as him or that they appeared on an island close to his. Many of them felt .
When they appeared back on the teleportation platform, these people with regrets about their position in the test didn't look kindly upon him. A lot of them felt fear while looking at him. But there were a few who felt anger.
The examinees who were on the same island with him felt fear whenever they looked at him and were content with it. They had seen just how terrifying he was, so no matter how disgruntled they were by his behavior, they didn't have it within themselves to confront him about it.
This was the case no matter how angry they were about his actions causing them to perform poorly. They could only bury their anger within them.
