Manchester International Airport, at the peak of the tourist season, tour groups arrived one after another.
Some wore little red hats, others held little red flags, huddling together, dominating several gates in the airport terminal.
"Hey, are you out yet?" Aunt Xu Yuan spoke while running into the terminal, out of breath and sweating profusely, "I was stuck in traffic. I’m a bit late. Just wait, I’m entering from the A zone exit. I’ll come and pick you up, almost there!"
"Anxious? How could I not be anxious? What if you get lost, or what if my future daughter-in-law and son-in-law get lost with you?"
"Hey... I don’t care. I’ve already decided, my future son just likes older women!"
Aunt Xu Yuan hurried along, but her face was uncontrollably filled with joy.
Thinking about spending time in the city she grew up in with her best friend, along with her future daughter-in-law and son-in-law, made her forget all her troubles.
Just as she squeezed through a group of ladies in little red hats, she hung up the phone, looking at the contact name ’Parents-in-law’ just displayed on the call, her face brimming with a delighted smile.
Unexpectedly, she bumped into someone.
The impact was like hitting a wall of flesh, causing a momentary pain to her forehead.
"I mean, can’t you watch where you’re going!"
She rubbed her forehead, eyes wide with anger, she was about to scold this obstacle.
"Can’t watch where I’m going?" a familiar and annoying voice scoffed, "Who’s the one not looking?"
Aunt Xu Yuan stopped in her tracks when she saw that face.
"What are you doing here?" Her expression changed slightly, the joy from earlier instantly doused by a bucket of cold water, her lips pressed tightly together.
Upon lifting her eyes, a look of joy that Shao Zhiheng had in his handsome face was quickly hidden deep within his eyes.
"Of course, getting off the plane!" He saw Aunt Xu Yuan change her expression in an instant and his tone turned chill as well, "And what about you? Why are you here?"
If Lu Wanwan had not been there, she might have sneered a few words and walked away, pretending she had not seen him.
But now, her first reaction upon seeing Shao Zhiheng was that she absolutely could not let him see Lu Wanwan.
"Mr. Shao." Aunt Xu Yuan put on a mockingly sarcastic smile on her face, "You couldn’t possibly still be harboring fantasies about me, keeping tabs on my whereabouts, and have come here especially to have a chance encounter with me, could you?"
"You’re dreaming," Shao Zhiheng replied, his face tight with tension, seeing her look of smug disdain, his teeth nearly itched with irritation, yet he managed to feign calm.
Aunt Xu Yuan glanced around purposefully, "Just you? Single life must be great! Goodbye!"
Although it seemed improbable, only when she confirmed that Gu Annan was not around him did she truly breathe a sigh of relief.
"Xu Yuan, I’m getting married."
She had just taken a few steps when his voice reached her.
"No wonder you’re strutting around so proudly. So you’re saying goodbye to bachelorhood." Xu Yuan stopped mid-stride, turned around, and smiled brightly, "Congratulations, Mr. Shao. It’s unfortunate for the young lady of some family."
"Xu Yuan!" Shao Zhiheng clenched his teeth, cutting her off.
Her eyes filled with laughter were the best weapon.
Remembering how she held her phone with a sweet smile just moments ago, his heart tightened with a pang of pain. It seemed she really was living well.
Xu Yuan watched his scowling face as he walked away briskly, not wanting to linger here for half a moment, his figure quickly disappearing into the crowd at the exit.
She let out a soft breath, finally rid of him.
"Aunt Xu Yuan, what are you looking at?"
"Aunt Xu Yuan, I want a hug!"
Two enthusiastic children’s voices almost emerged at the same time.
