Ji Shaoyang and Shao Zhixing came out of the elevator just in time to see Lu Wanwan quickly leaving the Japanese restaurant and walking toward the distance.
Shao Zhixing looked up, "Where?"
Ji Shaoyang raised his hand, pointing to the quickly passing figure, "The one heading to the restroom, I saw a side profile just now."
"Why not?" Ji Shaoyang glanced at him sideways, "Didn’t you learn from Xu Yuan’s company that she had reserved a spot here and that’s why you called us to dine here?"
Ji Shaoyang raised his eyebrows and took a few steps forward, and indeed, through the glass window, he saw Xu Yuan looking at her phone, while the seat across from her was empty.
"Is Gu Annan about to arrive?" Shao Zhixing stood still, hands in his pockets, his eyebrows tightly knitted, "Tell me, what should we do?"
He and Ji Shaoyang exchanged a glance, both waiting for the other to come up with a plan.
Six years had passed, and none of them had ever really figured out Gu Annan.
If Lu Wanwan were to appear in front of him, what would he do?
No one could imagine.
"Or, change places today?" Ji Shaoyang thought for a long time, feeling that this was too sudden and it caught them off guard.
Shao Zhixing somewhat disagreed, "Why can’t you bear to see someone doing well? Lu Wanwan has finally returned, and you want Gu Annan to be clueless about this? Manchester is so large, missing this chance might mean they truly won’t meet in the same city."
"How could that be? I’m afraid a sudden meeting would ruin the only chance we have. What if it scares Lu Wanwan away?"
Shao Zhixing was also thinking, taking advantage of Gu Annan’s presumed lateness today to plan ahead.
"Wanwan?" Suddenly, a surprised voice rang out.
It was as though a deafening thud had exploded in their minds.
Turning around, they saw Lin Weiyang, who had just come up, calling out to the person who came out of the restroom.
They were still at quite a distance.
"Lin Weiyang!" Shao Zhixing quickly gave him a stern look, knowing he shouldn’t have called him, since he was always the idler.
Lin Weiyang felt inexplicably puzzled, "I’m not lying, it really is Wanwan."
"Wanwan, when did you come back?" Lin Weiyang, not as crafty, caught sight of the unexpected surprise right out of the elevator and he didn’t think twice before calling out to her.
"Today." Lu Wanwan walked over, paused for a moment, then smiled and glanced at them, "President Shao, President Ji."
Shao Zhixing might have let it go, but Ji Shaoyang felt a slight weight in his heart hearing her address him as President Ji.
When she used to call him Brother Shaoyang, it was presumably still with the intention of looking at Gu Annan.
Her first sentence had clearly distanced herself from them.
Despite the open smile on her face, which was more composed and assured than the naive girl from years ago.
"It’s such a coincidence to bump into you as soon as I return." Lin Weiyang exclaimed, "It’s been several years, they said you went to study in the United States, right? Why don’t you use QQ or WeChat?"
"No time, too busy studying," Lu Wanwan said, her hands in her jacket pockets, her lips pursed in a smile, "Are you here for dinner?"
Shao Zhixing and Ji Shaoyang both nodded awkwardly with a smile.
"Yes, let’s eat together," Lin Weiyang invited, since they all knew each other anyway.
Shao Zhixing just wanted to drag him away right then!
But at that moment, he remembered that apparently no one had told him Gu Annan was coming.
Forget it, telling him or not might not make any difference at all.
"No, I’ve already eaten, I’m planning to go shopping with Xu Yuan. You go ahead," Lu Wanwan pointed helplessly to a stain on her clothes, "I’m not presentable, I need to buy some clothes first."
