Lu Wanwan was aware of Gu Annan’s habits. He hardly ever used this small suite, let alone went to the bathroom during work hours.
She stood at the doorstep of the small suite, the urge to immediately leave the place growing stronger.
The fingers gripping the tote bag unnaturally tightened, slowly clenching into a fist, the knuckles painfully aching.
The sound of water in the bathroom abruptly stopped.
Lu Wanwan suddenly remembered why she was here: for two reasons, one was for work, the other was to return his belongings to him.
Regardless of the reason, she could not leave.
Since she had decided to return to Manchester, she had been mentally prepared to face him; this ought to have been expected.
The bathroom door opened.
The suite’s door was originally not closed, so Gu Annan saw her as soon as he stepped out.
His dark eyes slightly narrowed, after a moment of surprise, slowly lit up with several strands of bright light.
He hadn’t managed to get dressed; he wore only a towel wrapped around his lower body.
His perfectly sculpted body caught her eye, inch by inch, as breathtaking as she remembered and impossible to look away from.
Lu Wanwan’s expression remained unchanged, her eyes on him, "Since Mr. Gu is so busy, I’ll go out and wait."
Just as she turned around, a magnetic, pleasant voice came from behind her.
Gu Annan walked to the doorway of the suite with a leisurely stride, his gaze fixed on the tote bag in her hand, "What’s that?"
"Your clothes from last time, I’ve brought them to return to you." She didn’t turn around, yet strangely felt his presence enveloping her.
While speaking, she casually placed the tote bag on his office desk.
She then noticed a thermos and a bowl of soup that hadn’t been finished next to the office desk.
"I’m not in a hurry to wear them."
"They still have to be returned." Lu Wanwan took out the VIP card, placing it on the desk along with the other items, "This too, I’ve come to return it all to you."
Gu Annan’s face suddenly tensed up, his gaze locked on her back.
"I will wait outside. Mr. Gu, once you’re done with your matters, please have your secretary let me in."
"Lu Wanwan." His lips moved slightly, stepping directly out of the small suite.
Lu Wanwan, upon hearing him call out her name, each syllable distinct, could tell how dissatisfied he was.
But she couldn’t just set aside her self-respect to appease him just to make him happy; how ridiculous would that be?
"Mr. Gu, I am here to discuss work," Lu Wanwan maintained her composure as best as she could, "I shouldn’t stay in your office until you’re ready to discuss work normally."
Gu Annan stopped in his tracks, his gaze on her back, and the tightly clenched fists.
"Do you realize, every time you pretend to be calm, you always have some little giveaways?"
His voice regained its usual controlled pace.
Lu Wanwan initially intended to ignore him and just walked out of the office.
Hearing the faint footsteps behind her, suddenly a pair of strong hands grasped hers.
Her fists were held in his palm, and as he stretched them forward, his voice, very close above her, said, "Doesn’t it hurt clutching them so tightly?"
Gu Annan reached from behind and deliberately stretched her arms forward, as if drawing her into his embrace from behind.
With a scent of her hair tickling his nose, he lowered his head, tempted to kiss her.
Lu Wanwan’s silence made him abandon the idea, especially since she didn’t even push him away, that kind of composure left him at a loss.
He released his grip, his eyes slightly intense, his fiery gaze dimming.
He always had no way of dealing with her.
