Mr. CEO's Ex-Wife: A Cunning Comeback Chapter 120

Meanwhile, at the Silver Crest Global District, Daniel stood by the window, watching Kane step out of a taxi with his small backpack.

The tension in his chest disappeared.

"Do you think Chantie really wants to take Rai away from you, Daniel?" Philip asked as he walked over, handing him a bottle of beer.

Daniel took it swiftly without saying a word. He popped off the cap and handed it back.

Philip took the opened beer and, looking satisfied, handed Daniel a cup of hot chocolate drink instead.

"Are you so sure?" Philip raised an eyebrow. "Do you really think Chantie still loves you?"

He remembered how she used to confide in him, saying Daniel was the light of her life.

It was ridiculous. He almost lost his composure just thinking about it.

But he knew what had happened between them. The man she once loved had been the one to send her straight to hell.

No one who had been through something like that could love again.

In Philip's eyes, Chantie's only mistake was loving Daniel. But she wasn't a fool.

"I'm not sure if she still loves me," Daniel said with his eyes on Kane as he entered the Silver Crest Global District building. "But I love her."

With that, he turned around and activated the building's security system.

"What? Daniel, are you serious? When did this happen? Why didn't I know?" Philip asked, shocked.

"You never know what's going on around you. That doesn't surprise me," Daniel said flatly and his eyes still fixed on the surveillance monitor.

The little rascal, Kane, had entered the elevator without any trouble.

A large surveillance monitor in the living room displayed a clear view of Kane's every move.

Unaware that he was being watched, Kane smiled as he sent a message to Chantelle.

Philip noticed that Daniel was watching Railer's movements carefully. At first, he thought Daniel was just being protective, worried the boy wouldn't get downstairs safely. But as he kept watching, he sensed something was off.

"Daniel, look. Isn't Rai holding a phone? When did you get him one? Just yesterday, I asked for his Instagram, and he said he didn't have an account!"

So the little brat did have one. He just didn't want to add me! What a waste of effort, spoiling him like that! Philip's face showed his irritation.

"Chantelle gave it to him as a gift," Daniel said bluntly.

Philip felt even more annoyed. Railer was truly a little brat!

"Why are you so worked up? I don't know his Instagram account either," Daniel said, trying to console him. He didn't think it's a big deal. If they had Railer's phone number, why would they need his Instagram? Philip was overreacting.

"Eh? Really? Okay, keep an eye on Rai while I heat up some milk. He'll probably want it when he gets back!" Philip instantly felt better and rushed to the kitchen.

Daniel didn't bother responding. His focus stayed on the monitor, watching Kane. He noticed the boy kept typing messages and became curious. In the end, he adjusted the camera angle for a close-up of Kane's phone screen.

It looked like he was using Instagram Messenger.

Then, Daniel saw the name Kane had saved for the other person—"Mommy"...

Daniel's heart skipped a beat. Railer was messaging Chantelle? When did they get so close?

A memory flashed in his mind. Back when they were coming down the Hershey Hairpin, Chantelle had been talking to Railer.

If he remembered correctly, Railer had called her Mommy. And Chantelle... what had she called him? Kane?

When had she started calling him that?

Daniel's eyes shifted back to the screen. A message appeared.

Kane had typed: "Mommy, is my lil' brother awake yet? He knows I'm his big brother now, right?"

Chantelle replied: "You're the little brother."

Kane quickly sent back: "Mommy, what did you say? Lalala, I'm not listening."

They kept messaging each other.

Daniel, however, was completely baffled as he stared at the screen.

Little brother? Big brother?

Did Chantelle have other children?

No wonder she had said she didn't like him anymore. She had fallen for someone else. Had she even had a child with another man?

Daniel's head pounded. His old injury flared up, making it hard to think straight.

Philip, still in the kitchen warming up the milk, noticed something was wrong. He rushed over and helped Daniel to the sofa.

Daniel lay down and he looked pale.

Philip glanced at the door and saw Railer returning. He quickly turned off the surveillance camera, hiding it again.

The little rascal had only gone downstairs to message someone. If he found out his father had been spying on him, that would be a problem.

Kane walked in moments later.

The moment he saw Daniel lying there, looking unwell, he ran over as fast as his little legs could carry him. His small hands swiftly held Daniel's much larger one.

"Daddy, what's wrong?" he asked anxiously.

Strangely, the thought of being one step closer to a huge inheritance never even crossed Kane's mind.

"Daddy, you have to get better soon! If you do, I'll give you all my pocket money!" Kane threw himself into Daniel's arms, rubbing his fuzzy little head against his shoulder like an affectionate kitten.

Philip, seeing how worried he was, quickly reassured him. "Don't worry, Rai. Your daddy's just tired. He'll be fine after some rest."

He got up and brought Kane a cup of hot chocolate milk, hoping it would help calm him down.

After checking Daniel, he confirmed it was nothing serious—just a fainting spell caused by too much excitement.

Kane, however, wasn't convinced.

"I'll drink it when Daddy wakes up..." Even his favorite chocolate milk wasn't enough to distract him. All he wanted was to stay by Daniel's side until he woke up.

Kane's voice cut through the haze in Daniel's mind, slowly pulling him back to consciousness.

He reached out and gently stroked Kane's head. "It's alright, Rai. Daddy's fine."

"Daddy, you're awake!" Kane's eyes lit up the moment he heard Daniel's voice. He looked up at him with his face full of relief.

"Mmhmm. Come on, I'll sit with you while you drink your milk." Daniel smiled and tried to sit up.
