Mr. CEO's Ex-Wife: A Cunning Comeback Chapter 139

Before he could wipe his tears, someone entered the living room.

He looked up and saw Kane standing at the door, surprised to see him crying.

Before he could say anything, Daniel came in holding a bandaged Railer.

For a moment, Philip thought he might be dreaming.

"Are you okay, Uncle Philip?" Kane asked.

Philip stared at them in shock. "Now it makes sense! I knew something felt off about Rai. Daniel, I can’t believe you never told me you had identical twins!"

Philip was happy to find out the truth. His suspicions were finally confirmed.

The test results had been right—both boys were Daniel’s sons. He remembered sensing something was strange about Kane the first time they met, even though he looked just like Railer.

"I’m Kane, Uncle Philip," Kane said, glancing at Railer. "That’s my brother, Railer. Thanks again for taking care of me all this time!" Kane said with genuine gratitude.

Chantelle had told him he might’ve caused Philip a lot of stress by pretending to be Railer.

Still, Kane liked Philip. He had always been kind to both of them.

"It’s been a pleasure getting to know you, Kane," Philip said with a chuckle.

Kane grinned. "I’m happy to be around! So... do I get a present for being nice?"

He looked at Philip with wide, hopeful eyes.

Philip blinked in disbelief. He couldn’t believe he had missed how different the boys really were.

Philip shook his head. He never imagined this was the truth. He smiled and said, "Of course! Pick anything you want for your present."

"You’re the best, Uncle Philip! I knew you’d say yes," Kane uttered joyfully. "I already picked something. Just scan this QR code to pay!"

Philip was stunned. This kid was something else. He turned to Daniel for help but saw him stepping into the elevator with Railer.

"Wait for me!" Philip rushed over and slipped inside before the doors closed. He took a deep breath to calm down.

"It’s really Rai, right? You’re hurt," Philip said, looking seriously at Railer. "Let me take a look."

Once they reached the lower floor, Philip and Daniel brought Railer into the treatment room.

Just as Philip was about to check on him, Daniel pulled him aside.

"What is it?" Philip raised an eyebrow. "Don’t tell me you’re here to make me pay for Kane’s present. I’ve only known your clever son for almost a month. I think I deserve a cheaper one for his gift! Besides, you’re the one who has billions, not me, yet that brat asked me for an expensive gift!"

Daniel ignored his rants. He was grinning from ear to ear. "Philip, I have two kids with Chantelle. Two kids!"

Philip rolled his eyes.

Was this guy serious? Was he really bragging about his perfect family in front of someone who’s still single?

"Yes, I see you brought both your kids."

Even though he felt a bit jealous, Philip couldn’t bring himself to ruin Daniel’s joy. It was rare to see him this cheerful.

"Are you happy for me? I feel amazing, Philip. Like I’m floating!" Daniel said excitedly.

Philip shrugged his shoulders resentfully. "Of course. So... does this mean you’re getting back together with Chantelle?"

"I would love to! She is and will always be my one and only wife," Daniel said, still smiling.

Philip gave a careful reply. "Well, you know Chantie. She can be really stubborn, so be ready for that, Daniel."

He wanted to say something, like how Chantelle might not forgive him easily, but he held back.

Daniel replied in a serious tone, "I know, and I won’t give up."

"I’m glad you’ve made your choice," Philip said. "Whatever you decide to do, I’ll support you."

Still, Philip couldn’t help but worry. He remembered the last time Chantelle came in for a check-up.

She looked restless. She told him she would never love Daniel again. Loving him, she said, would only ruin her life.

Back then, Philip thought she was just upset. But the next day, she got blamed for the Wilson family’s accident.

Not long after that, she disappeared and left Railer behind.

Railer was the only reason Daniel kept going. Philip’s heart felt heavy as he thought about everything. He sighed and walked into the treatment room.

The boy sat silently on the bed. He gave Philip a small smile as he walked in.

"Oh wow, Rai! You’re finally speaking!" Philip looked surprised. "I knew you could talk. You just didn’t want to."

Railer stayed silent again and let Philip check on him.

In the five years he lived with the Wilson family, his dad wasn’t always around. But Philip was there.

Every time Railer got sick, Philip was always attentive. He would sit and talk with him, even when Railer didn’t answer.

Those times made Railer feel safe. Philip never gave up on him and always showed patience.

"Rai, who hurt you? Can you tell me?" Philip gently unwrapped the bandages on his arms and legs.

The wounds were healing, but it was clear they had been bad.

Thankfully, Railer had been treated with the best medicine, so his wounds were healing fast. But his body was still weak, and there was a risk of organ failure. Railer’s heart was always fragile.

Railer shook his head and didn’t answer.

Philip didn’t push him. He could tell the boy didn’t want to talk about it.

"That’s okay, Rai. You don’t have to say anything. Let me clean your wounds and put on a new medicine. Then you can go upstairs and have pancakes with Kane and your dad. Sound good?"

"Great," Railer replied. He paused for a moment and said, "Uncle Philip."

Philip looked up. "Yes?"

Railer gently said. "Thank you for everything."

"Don’t mention it! We’re family," Philip said with a big smile. He would’ve cried if he wasn’t busy with the bandages.

He knew tears weren’t good around open wounds. "Still, I’m really happy to hear you say that."

Philip felt like he was on top of the world.

Hearing Railer speak and getting a thank you made him feel like the luckiest man alive.

Philip gently finished dressing Railer’s wounds, then went to his lab to get a smart wheelchair.

It was his newest invention. It could fit an adult, and the safety belt could be adjusted for different body sizes.
