Mr. CEO's Ex-Wife: A Cunning Comeback Chapter 167

"Mrs. Wilson’s location just vanished. Did she notice we were tracking her?" Ashton asked. He had been following the GPS on the screen.

Even with little time spent with her, he knew Chantelle wasn’t someone who could be fooled easily.

Daniel stared at the map. "Check the last location and get there fast," he ordered.

Ashton reset the system. The last location that appeared on the screen was Blue Sky Mental Hospital.

His eyes widened in surprise. "Why would Mrs. Bently be at a mental hospital?"

Daniel felt a wave of panic. This wasn’t some casual place.

Why was Chantelle there? Did she find something?

Fear crept over his face as he thought of what could have happened. He quickly called Philip.

Philip picked up right away. "I was just about to call you, Daniel. Chantie might be in danger!"

Philip was already on his way to the same place.

A few minutes earlier, Philip had walked into a pub to have fun and meet women. But before the night even began, he saw something strange in Chantelle’s health data.

Her heart rate shot up for a moment, then drastically dropped too low.

Shocked, he jumped off the couch, grabbed his phone, and ran to his car. He didn’t even stop to grab his jacket. He planned to call Daniel once he was on the road—but Daniel called first.

"Calm down. What’s going on?" Daniel asked in a calm tone.

"I saw Chantie’s heart rate drop dangerously low. Her vitals look bad. She’s either passed out or close to dying," Philip said, pressing the gas.

The car sped up to 200 km/h.

Daniel’s face turned pale. "Where is she now?" he asked sharply.

He figured the bracelet Philip gave her had a tracker.

Philip answered, "GPS says she’s at Blue Sky Mental Hospital. I’ll meet you there. Call me if anything changes."

"Okay," Daniel said and ended the call.

Ashton couldn’t hear what was said, but he saw Daniel’s face change. Something was clearly wrong.

"Did something happen to Mrs. Wilson?" he asked.

Daniel didn’t answer. Instead, he said, "Send the special force to the northern suburbs."

"Yes, Sir!" Ashton understood right away and passed the order without delay.

Daniel glanced at the sunflowers beside him.

"Please be safe, Chantelle," he whispered.

They had been tracking her location until something felt strange.

Within ten minutes, they reached Blue Sky Mental Hospital.

The place was empty. The entrance was quiet. Too quiet. Even the parking lot looked deserted—except for Chantelle’s car.

Seeing no one around, Daniel stepped out of the car and headed toward the main building.

"This is strange, Sir. It’s too quiet," Ashton said, walking beside him and scanning the area. "It feels wrong. Like something’s about to happen."

"Let’s split up and check the place. Stay alert," Daniel replied.

Meanwhile, Chantelle slowly opened her eyes. She was lying on a sofa in a lab.

In front of her was a laptop, showing a live feed from one of the hospital’s cameras.

She tried to sit up but felt weak like all her strength had been drained. Her head was heavy, and she feared she might faint again.

She fought to stand and sweat stung her eyes. But she couldn’t get up.

Then, she saw someone on the screen.

Daniel? What’s he doing here?

She wanted to call out, to warn him. But before she could do it the screen swiftly changed.

"You’re awake, pretty lady," he said with a twisted laugh. "Let me tell you a little secret. The prey has arrived. Now the hunt can start! It’s been a while since I had this much fun. I’m excited! Haha!"

Lone Wolf’s laugh echoed in the room. It sounded unhinged.

Chantelle wanted to speak, but her throat hurt too much. She could only watch as he moved quickly through the building, heading toward Daniel.

Fear rushed through her. She realized he was using her to get to Daniel. She couldn’t let that happen.

Chantelle bit down her lips and reached for the fire alarm. She hoped Daniel would hear it and know something was wrong.

She held onto the edge of the sofa to stay up. But just before she could hit the button, her knees gave out. She dropped back onto the sofa and became helpless.

A wave of dizziness hit her. Dark spots clouded her vision. She sank into the sofa, and felt drained.

A few moments later, Chantelle regain her consciousness again.

On the screen, she saw Daniel moving through the building, checking every corner and rooms. The place was empty. It was clearly a setup.

Lone Wolf had hidden nearby and waited for the right moment to strike.

Chantelle was stunned as she stared at the laptop screen. Her hands trembled.

Fear crept into her chest. She had no idea what was coming next—but she knew it would be bad.

Daniel must be panicking because I’m missing. What if Lone Wolf attacks him? What if...

The thought made her heart race. She couldn’t let that happen.

With a deep breath, she forced her hand forward, reaching for the red alarm button again.

Daniel checked every floor and room, but Chantelle was nowhere to be found.

Ever since he entered the building, his phone had no signal.

The longer he stayed inside the hospital, the more he felt something was wrong.

He couldn’t understand why his enemy wouldn’t show up.

What bothered him more than anything was that he still couldn’t find Chantelle.

Daniel was on the verge of losing his mind when he caught sight of a figure in the distance.

His instincts told him to run after it, but a loud, sharp alarm suddenly rang out in the hallway.

It was the fire alarm.

The sudden alarm startled Daniel, but it also made him more alert. He noticed two thin golden threads stretched across the hallway where the figure had just appeared. If he had rushed forward subconsciously, he would have been hurt.

What a dangerous trap. Did someone trigger the fire alarm on purpose just now...

Daniel stood still for a moment, then glanced at the hallway’s camera. He pulled out his dagger and cut through the golden threads.

"I will find you, Lone Wolf," he murmured sharply, gritting her teeth. "And I will end this game."

Daniel’s dark eyes turned cold. He stopped chasing.
