Mr. CEO's Ex-Wife: A Cunning Comeback Chapter 199

From the footage, it looked like the castle had more than one basement. There were several small rooms down there.

Calvin pointed to one of them. There seemed to be someone inside.

Chantelle quickly leaned closer. "It really does look like a prison cell..." she whispered. She could clearly see a figure inside.

Did Joseph lock someone up in the castle?

Chantelle wasn’t sure. The person was standing in a blind spot, and she couldn’t see their face.

But the hand looked delicate. It seemed to be a woman’s hand.

"Calvin, look at her left wrist. Is she wearing a bracelet?" Chantelle asked after watching carefully for a while.

After hearing her words, Calvin quickly zoomed in on the camera to check it.

The camera in the basement had better quality than the one upstairs. When Calvin zoomed in the camera the image became much clearer.

It was still a little blurry, but Chantelle could read the letters F and X carved into a crescent moon and stars on the bracelet.

Her heart dropped. She clenched her fists tightly.

"Ms. Chantelle, it just looks like a regular bracelet. Is something wrong?" Calvin asked, puzzled.

"It’s mine," Chantelle said in a tight voice.

The bracelet wasn’t worth much. It was just silver.

But it meant everything to her.

Her grandmother had given it to her after she survived a terrible accident. She had said it was an amulet to keep her safe.

Back when Chantelle first moved into the Bently family, Kate had taken the bracelet from her.

Chantelle didn’t expect Kate to still have it.

"It’s your bracelet? Then why is it here? Is the person in the cell someone you know?" Calvin asked, trying to piece it together.

"Kate took my bracelet," Chantelle said while her eyes turned sharp. "So the person Joseph locked up is probably Kate. Calvin, I think we found her!"

"Ms. Chantelle, what should we do next?" Calvin asked as he kept his eyes on the screen.

"Get ready. I’m going into the castle tonight!" Chantelle said firmly.

Even though the bracelet was hers, she still couldn’t see the woman’s face clearly. She had to check it herself.

If it really was Kate, Chantelle needed to ask her face-to-face.

Ruby and Kate’s goals had always been the same. They wanted Kate to marry into the Wilson family.

But Chantelle knew they couldn’t have planned everything so perfectly on their own.

Not only that but some of the Wilson family’s secrets had been stolen. Yet, Kate and Ruby didn’t use them to their advantage.

This made Chantelle believe there was someone else behind it. Someone who used Kate and Ruby to get what he wanted.

"Ms. Chantelle, it’s too dangerous!" Calvin said, trying to stop her.

Joseph wasn’t someone to mess with. Calvin didn’t want Chantelle to take the risk.

"If Joseph really locked up Kate, he’ll never confess. This is the only way," Chantelle blurted out her analysis.

Chantelle was sure there was a mastermind. And it seemed like that person was Joseph.

"But, Ms. Chantelle, don’t you think it’s suspicious? What if it’s a trap?" Calvin asked in a nervous tone.

The risk was too high. Calvin didn’t even want to imagine what could happen.

"Calvin, Wesley was the kindest person I’ve ever known. I won’t let the person who killed him walk free. I’ll make them pay, no matter what," Chantelle said, her eyes full of fire.

If Joseph really killed Wesley, Chantelle promised herself she would never forgive him.

"All right. If that’s your decision, I’ll get everything ready," Calvin said.

"No need to thank me, Ms. Chantelle. It’s my duty," Calvin replied politely.

Chantelle looked at the eerie castle in the distance. Her expression turned cold.

She stayed silent for a while before speaking again.

"Send a few men to watch them. Let’s head back for now. We can’t let them know we were here."

"Got it," Calvin replied.

He started the engine and drove down a narrow path behind the forest. Soon, they reached the highway and headed back to the city.

"Ms. Chantelle, if Joseph really had something to do with Old Mr. Wilson’s death... should we tell Mr. Wilson first?" Calvin asked.

After thinking for a moment, Chantelle said, "I’ll tell him when the time comes."

She knew how much Wesley meant to Daniel. If Daniel learned Joseph was the killer, he’d never let it slide.

But things weren’t simple. Joseph was Daniel’s cousin. Chantelle needed to be sure before saying anything.

While Chantelle was deep in thought, her phone buzzed.

She unlocked it and saw a message from Thea.

Thea: Chantie, where are you? Railer is with me. Come back now! If you don’t, I don’t know what I’ll do to him.

Attached to the message were a few photos of Thea holding Railer.

Chantelle shook her head when she saw them.

She quickly typed a reply.

Chantelle: Why is Railer with you? Where’s Philip?

Railer was still healing. To keep a closer eye on him, Philip had asked Railer to stay with him at Silver Crest Global District.

Philip had also been the one handling Railer’s treatment since he was little.

That’s why Chantelle was surprised to see Railer with Thea.

Thea: Philip is sleeping on my bed!

Chantelle: Your bed? So you finally slept with him, huh?

Chantelle couldn’t help but feel curious.

Thea: Hey, stop talking nonsense. I tried to sleep with him, but he won’t even give me a chance... He just asked me to cook for him and now he’s sleeping on my bed. Can you ask Daniel to take him back?

Chantelle started feeling suspicious. It took her a moment to snap out of it.

Chantelle: You cooked for him? I thought you said you only cook for me! Liar!

Damn it! Why did I spill it out directly?

Thea quickly changed the topic.

Thea: Do you want your son back or not?

Chantelle: Where are you?

An hour later, Calvin drove Chantelle to the house where Thea was staying.

"Calvin, go get everything ready. Meet me at the forest near the castle at nine tonight."

"Ms. Chantelle, let me come pick you up. It’s far from here. I’m worried something might happen."

Chantelle thought for a second and nodded.

"Okay," she agreed after realizing Calvin made a good point.

Calvin opened the door for Chantelle, waited until she entered the password, and went inside.
