Mr. CEO's Ex-Wife: A Cunning Comeback Chapter 357

"You’ve gotten even more foolish since coming back to Easthan," Trenton replied coldly, glancing at her.

Before she could react, the meat in her hand was suddenly pinned to a tree across from her. She hadn’t even seen him move.

Chantelle looked down and was frustrated. Her face was still pale.

"That man dragged you to hell six years ago, and yet you’re still playing silly games for him?" Trenton sneered as he cut some meat and placed it on the grill. "How pathetic."

He grilled the meat but didn’t eat it. Instead, he handed it to Chantelle. When she didn’t eat it either, he threw it to the ground.

"I wonder if Jackson would be so mad that he’d rise from the grave just to see you acting for another man," Trenton said, enjoying the sight of Chantelle looking defeated. It was as if her misery brought him joy.

Yeah, his master had always cared about Chantelle the most. Seeing her eat deer meat at his grave for someone else, he should be angry. He should be heartbroken.

For some reason, Trenton felt much lighter inside.

"Do you know why Jackson liked white deer?" Chantelle suddenly looked up with her bloodshot eyes.

Trenton leaned casually against the tree. There was something tough and unreadable about him.

His deep blue eyes which once bright like sapphires, now looked cold and dark. They sent chills down her spine, like a snake watching its prey.

"You still remember, don’t you? When you were little, wild wolves dragged you into the mountains. Jackson searched for you in the snow for days. When he finally found you, you were lying in a white deer’s arms. That’s why he liked white deer," Chantelle said.

Chantelle stared intently at Trenton, not wanting to miss any change in his expression.

When she caught the slight flicker in his eyes, her nervous heart finally relaxed a bit.

"You don’t hate him. You hate yourself. You hate that you killed him in a moment of rage, don’t you?"

Chantelle stood a short distance from him. As soon as she said those words, Trenton rushed at her and pressed a dagger to her neck.

Warm blood ran down the blade. The sharp pain brought a wave of fear, but Chantelle didn’t show it.

"You’re too full of yourself. Since you’re so eager to die, I’ll help you out," Trenton said as he lightly pushed the dagger forward.

Chantelle felt the blade dig deeper, slowly sliding toward her artery.

She looked at him calmly, without fear. "You get angry. You feel ashamed. You’ve regretted killing your father all these years, haven’t you? You couldn’t save him, so you blamed me instead. You’re nothing but a coward."

Trenton’s face twisted in anger. He saw himself in her eyes. He was vicious and cruel. Just like when someone once told him, "You’re like a rat in a filthy gutter, disgusting and rotten, making everyone sick."

"It’s pathetic. He gave you everything he had, hoping for your forgiveness. He thought he could make things right. But instead, his own son killed him. He raised you, taught you how to be a decent person. What did he ever do to deserve that?"

Chantelle’s words hit him hard. Trenton’s fury exploded. He pressed the dagger harder against her skin as his eyes showed deep resentment. "What do you know? You’re insane!"

The pain that man left in him was something even death couldn’t take away.

Trenton’s sudden outburst made Chantelle felt nervous all over her body. She didn’t dare to breathe or even blink. Once again, she felt death just inches away.

Just as Chantelle was about to fight back, and wanted to risk everything but Trenton suddenly grabbed her hand. A sneer spread across his face.

She was holding a card, the key to the castle where Trenton lived. He had planned to snatch it from her in a moment of anger, but Chantelle noticed his plan.

His smile was cold and twisted.

"With so little skill, you still dare to come near me?" he said.

Chantelle didn’t waste time arguing. She swiftly attacked him.

At first, they fought with their bare hands, but Chantelle couldn’t keep up for long. She turned on her equipment and started launching sneak attacks on Trenton.

Even without any weapons, Trenton still had the advantage. Her high-tech gear was no match for his raw strength.

But Chantelle was smart. Every time she was about to get caught, she managed to slip away.

Trenton found it entertaining. He toyed with her like a cat playing with a mouse.

Blood still trickled from her neck, and before long, Chantelle started to feel worn out.

She didn’t want to fight anymore. She turned and ran down the mountain.

But Trenton knew the area better than she did. It didn’t take long before he cornered her at the edge of a cliff.

Chantelle looked back at the cliff. It was terrifyingly high. If she fell, her body would be shattered.

"You’re right. I don’t want to kill you," Trenton said, walking toward her slowly like a snake. "Since I can’t bring myself to end your life, then stay with me."

But as he got closer, he noticed something strange.

Chantelle didn’t look scared. She wasn’t anxious either. She was too calm like she already had a plan.

"When did you drug me?" Trenton asked as his strength slowly faded away. He could barely stay on his feet.

Chantelle gave him a sly smile while her eyes were gleaming. "Take a guess," she replied.

"You pulled all those tricks, pretending to poison the deer meat, provoking me, stealing my key, just to bring me down? Even if you succeed, what’s the point? Daniel will still die," Trenton said with a twisted smile.

He couldn’t stay up any longer and sank to the ground.

Seeing him grow weaker, Chantelle looked satisfied with the amount of drug she had given him. She walked over and patted his face. "I know how tough you are. You wouldn’t talk even if I cut you up piece by piece. So, I’ll just leave you here."

"Do you think you can keep me here?" Trenton said, realizing that if Chantelle had left him behind, she must have sent someone to the castle.

Still, he trusted his people. They wouldn’t let anyone she sent come back alive.

"I was just trying my luck," Chantelle said, suddenly stepping back in a hurry.

Trenton stabbed his own leg with a knife to stay awake, then charged at her as if he was ready to drag her off the cliff with him.
