In an ordinary sedan, Jon and Titus Zane sat in the back. The car was rented, and the driver was hired.
As a capital city, traffic jams are worse than constipation.
Therefore, the two hired a local driver who knew the traffic conditions well, which roads would be congested at what time, and which routes were clear, so as not to waste time on the road.
Evander Lancaster came out of the courtyard, his wife Abigail Zimmerman straightened his tie for him, and smoothed out the nonexistent creases on his suit. George bent down and got into the chauffeured car parked at the door. The car slowly started, heading towards the streets leading to the city center.
Titus Zane and Jon got out of the car one after the other and approached Abigail Zimmerman’s front door. Out of professional habit, Jon looked around before knocking on the door, then raised his hand and lightly tapped on the door panel.
Abigail’s voice came from inside, complaining as she walked, "You’ve just left, why are you back again? Did you forget the keys? You lose things all the time..."
Before she could finish speaking, Abigail froze when she saw the two people standing outside the door, and the words halted abruptly.
Looking at Titus Zane, her gaze never leaving his face, her brows gradually furrowed, and her lips trembled.
Raising a hand, she placed it on Titus Zane’s face, her eyes reddening.
"Xiao Nu, you’re Xiao Nu’s daughter, aren’t you..."
Titus Zane curved his lips, forming a polite smile, "Auntie, hello. My name is Titus Zane, my father is Titus..."
"Don’t mention his name in front of me; just hearing it makes me wish I could shoot him myself!" Abigail Zimmerman interrupted Titus Zane’s words, her teeth clenched in anger, a stark contrast to the gentle woman she was moments before.
A bad premonition suddenly arose in Titus Zane’s heart, and the feeling grew stronger.
Abigail Zimmerman lifted her hand to wipe the corner of her eye and leaned on the door frame, looking around outside.
"Madam, you don’t need to worry, your husband has already gone to work."
Abigail nodded, then looked up at Jon with a puzzled expression, "How do you know?"
Jon smiled, revealing a set of particularly neat teeth when he did.
"We’ve been waiting like a cat on the lookout at your front door."
Abigail Zimmerman gave him a glance and then looked at Titus Zane. She opened her mouth as if to speak, then stopped herself and did not invite them in. Before closing the door, she whispered, "You guys leave first, go to the coffee shop we met at last time; I will follow shortly."
Titus Zane and Jon returned to the car and instructed the driver to head to the coffee shop.
In the vehicle, Jon spoke to Titus Zane in French.
"Do you think that woman is a scammer?"
Leaning back, Titus Zane looked through the windshield ahead, his gaze somewhat hazy, but the lines on his face were tight.
