Watching the elevator doors about to close again, Wesley Foley stepped forward, extended an arm to block them, and smiled at Titus Zane, "Do you want to spend the night here?"
Perhaps with a guilty conscience, hearing Wesley say this made Titus feel like he was implying something, and she quickly shook her head, "No," she blurted out.
"Well, hurry up and get out, then." Before she could come back to her senses, Titus had already been pulled out of the elevator by Wesley.
At the door of the apartment, Wesley took Titus’s hand again and used her index finger to press a series of numbers, then turned to her, "Remember these? Next time you’ll have to open the door yourself."
Something inside her head seemed to explode, and Titus instinctively felt unsteady on her feet.
This man, appearing as gentle as jade, was actually direct and anxious. Just last night, he asked her to dinner and requested a kiss; now, he had swiftly brought her to his apartment. What was to come next was quite obvious.
"I just remembered, a friend is coming to Banyan City to see me, I need to go to the airport to pick them up."
In her urgency, Titus finally thought of a reasonable excuse. It made perfect sense for her friend to visit Banyan City, and for her to go to the airport to pick them up.
Wesley’s eyes, warm and filled with laughter, seemed to see right through her. Holding her wrist, he stood at the open door of the apartment, not entering, just looking at her.
Titus suddenly felt there was nowhere to hide, she even dared not meet his gaze, cast her eyes down, and her dense curled lashes completely concealed her uneasy emotions.
"What are you afraid of?" His voice carried a teasing laugh.
Wesley’s phoenix eyes were fixed on Titus’s face, visibly anxious. The downward gaze accentuated her full forehead, and the delicately shaped nose, quite three-dimensional.
Especially those two tightly closed full lips, as if set upon her lower jaw, three-dimensional, plump, radiating a tempting luster, like ripe fruit waiting to be plucked.
"Ah?" Titus raised her eyes, meeting Wesley’s slightly dazed gaze. The upward view intensified her exotic charm.
She started speaking, somewhat stammeringly.
"I—I’m not," Titus paused, realizing her own discomfort, curved her lips into a smile to ease the awkwardness, and cocked her head slightly, "What is there to be afraid of? You won’t bite."
"If you’re not afraid, why not go in?" Wesley’s voice was warm, his expression gentle, with an underlying challenging tone.
Blinking her eyes, Titus took a deep breath and stepped towards the apartment. But as soon as one foot crossed the threshold, Wesley’s teasing voice rose again.
"Sooner or later, I will devour you."
Titus turned abruptly, meeting the man’s half-smiling gaze. Those eyes held a deep, intense emotion, like a deep pool, thick with passion, and had an inherent magnetism that made it hard to look away.
Perhaps sensing Titus’s unease, Wesley stopped teasing her, raised his wrist, his fair and slender fingers rested on Titus’s shoulder, patting gently, and said with a smile, "Alright, come on in and see if the living arrangement provided by the company is to your satisfaction."
Titus’s panicked heart stabilized with Wesley’s words.
Walking into the apartment, she found the space just right, clean and tidy, without luxurious decorations, a simple home decor that looked comfortable and warm.
"Go check out the bedroom, see if it’s to your liking." Wesley’s voice sounded beside her ear and Titus turned her gaze to look at him, suddenly having a strange illusion.
