Something exploded in her brain with a loud bang, so sudden and loud that it caught her off guard.
She stared blankly at Nathan Moore, forgetting to react.
Next to her, Wesley Foley’s voice rang out, gentle and even-toned but tinged with an unusual shade.
"You two know each other?"
His slightly raised handsome eyebrows seemed to carry a playful air.
Regaining her bearings, Titus Zane laughed, put down the teacup she was holding to her lips, and her elaborately made-up face seemed slightly constrained.
"Yes, we know each other, he’s my brother-in-law."
Since the situation had come to this, all she could do was to brace herself and fend off the moves.
The surprise in his wide-open eyes was obvious.
And Felix Shaw, he was close to laughing out loud.
Turning his gaze, he looked at the man whose expression grew cloudy as he fiddled with his teacup, and mocked with a laugh.
"Second brother, coming all this way to do business and running into your aunt, is this some kind of karmic connection from a past life?"
Felix used rough language, at least that’s what Wesley Foley thought.
As for Nathan Moore, the knuckles on his hand turning the teacup had turned white, and with his gaze lowered, his thick eyelashes hid the emotions in his eyes, but bite marks were visible on both sides of his handsome face.
Ignoring Felix’s inappropriate language, Wesley Foley’s mood suddenly improved. Turning his head back, he looked at the two men opposite him and took the initiative to raise his teacup, "Come, the dishes aren’t served yet, let me toast Mr. Moore with tea instead of wine. Perhaps in the near future, we will become relatives."
As Wesley Foley spoke, his other arm once again rested on the back of Titus Zane’s chair, a casual gesture that clearly showed the intimacy between them.
Moreover, the implication in Wesley Foley’s words was clear, outright telling Nathan Moore that they would become in-laws in the future.
Nathan Moore raised his eyes, his distinct knuckles still on the cup on the table, meeting Wesley Foley’s subtly provocative gaze, without a move.
Next to him, Felix turned his head and smirked wickedly.
"Second brother, seems like you’ve got a hint of green on your head."
"Cough cough!" The sound of Titus Zane’s cough followed Felix’s words, loud and clearly aimed to cover up the words Felix had spoken.
Wesley Foley looked over, concern apparent in his gentle eyes, and the hand on Titus Zane’s chairback reached over her neck to her cheek, a light and seemingly unconscious touch, his handsome eyebrows also knitting together.
"What’s wrong? Dressed too lightly and caught a cold?"
Putting down the hand that was before her lips, Titus Zane shook her head as she looked at him, a smile curving the corners of her mouth, "No, I just drank the tea too quickly and choked by accident."
"You, always giving me cause for concern."
It was unclear whether Wesley Foley did it intentionally, but as he spoke, he put down the teacup, turned around, and instead of resting his hand on the chairback, he was now cradling the back of Titus Zane’s head. Reaching over with one hand, in front of the two "clients," he made no effort to avoid suspicion, his thumb wiping away a non-existent tea stain from Titus Zane’s lips.
Across the table, Nathan Moore suddenly grabbed the cup between his fingers, tilted his head back, and downed the tea. With a loud bang, he put the empty cup back on the table, the sound strikingly loud.
Felix leaned back in his chair, one hand wrapped across his chest, the other subconsciously stroking his chin, watching the intimate interaction between the pair on the other side. His half-closed peach blossom eyes smiled in profound amusement.
Looks like a love triangle drama is about to unfold?
