In the early morning, the rising sun penetrated the thick curtains with a gentle light. Though not blinding, it reminded the sleeping people that it was time to get up.
After a night of binge drinking, Titus Zane covered his forehead with his hand, gently rubbed it, and slowly woke up.
Opening his eyes and seeing the handsome face within his line of sight, Titus Zane thought he was dreaming.
He rubbed his slightly heavy forehead once more and reopened his eyes, Jon’s enviably pale face was still there before him.
With a nightcap on his head and covered in a checkered tube nightgown, he looked like a circus juggler, eyes closed, sleeping sweetly.
Titus Zane couldn’t figure out how he knew where he was staying, given that the two of them had only exchanged a phone call since their parting, which was last night.
Moreover, she didn’t reveal the city or address where she currently resided.
Titus Zane had no idea how Jon had got through the apartment’s main door and sneaked into her room.
She remembered falling asleep on the sofa last night, and it was almost two in the morning...
Logically, she should have been aware when Jon sneaked in because she was a light sleeper with poor sleep quality.
But now, she was in her own bedroom, held by him, and the two of them were under the same blanket—how could she have no sense of it?
Just thinking about it felt terrifying.
Luckily, Jon was still somewhat a gentleman. If he were a bad person, she might... have been compromised by now.
Sitting up, Titus Zane checked that her clothes were still intact and stretched her arm lightly, pushing Jon’s shoulder.
The response she got was a faint snore from the man.
"Jon, you get up first!" Titus Zane ran out of patience. Sneaking into her room was already too much, and now he had climbed into her bed, after having promised not to sneak into her bed anymore.
"Darling, stop it, let me sleep a bit longer..." Jon grabbed Titus Zane’s hand, tucking it under his armpit with a small frown, yet he didn’t open his eyes and looked very weary.
She stared at Jon for a few seconds, her expression sorrowful.
"You promised, you wouldn’t sneakily sleep in my bed again!"
"Darling, you agreed!" Jon’s expression looked very tired, his blue eyes tightly closed, his eyebrows firmly furrowed, even his words seemed helpless.
"When did I?" Titus Zane immediately bristled, "When did I agree to let you sleep in my bed?"
"Last night," Jon still spoke with his eyes closed, tightened his hold on the hand under his armpit, but Titus Zane pulled it out and pushed him again.
"Jon, get up, explain clearly," when last night did she agree to let him sleep in her bed?
It’s a good thing that Wesley Foley wasn’t here, otherwise, if he saw this, not to mention the possible misunderstanding about herself, it would probably be impossible to accomplish her mission.
Jon sighed and finally decided to open his eyes, his blue eyes looking at Titus Zane, the sorrow in them apparent.
"Darling, can’t you just let me sleep peacefully!"
To come to Banyan City as fast as possible, he caught the last flight and then traveled by car to the apartment, having slept less than an hour in total.
"When did I agree to let you sleep in my bed?" Ignoring Jon’s distress, Titus Zane persistently held onto the topic.
Jon also sat up, sitting cross-legged and facing Titus Zane.
"Darling, did you drink too much last night and your brain got muddled? You clearly said on the phone how much you missed me and asked me to come over to be with you, now how could you forget?"
It was just a playful joke, who knew he would really fly over and secretly sneak into her apartment.
