Titus Zane found Jon’s entitled attitude baffling, he bowed his head, rubbed his brow, and when he looked up again, his expression and tone were equally serious.
"Jon, you know my profession. I didn’t come to Banyan City just for a simple job to support myself, Wesley Foley is not an ordinary man..."
Before Titus Zane could finish, Jon interrupted him, his trembling legs now still, elbows propped on his knees, intense gaze lifted to Titus, his handsome pale face equally serious.
Was quite speechless looking at Jon.
Some things should be clear without having to spell it out, Wesley Foley was her target for this mission, and the reason he arranged an apartment for her was certainly not just an employer’s concern for his employee.
It was a man’s disguised pursuit and protection of a woman.
The reason she didn’t refuse was to use this opportunity to get closer to Wesley and more easily obtain what she wanted.

He continued, "But if you consider me a friend, I want to tell you, the profession you are currently engaged in, though high-paying, comes with risks that are proportionately high. It sounds good to say it’s for acquiring valuable information for your employer, but to put it bluntly, what you are doing now is in the field of corporate espionage, and getting caught by the government would mean legal consequences."
Having hit the nail on the head, Titus Zane lowered her gaze, her thick curled lashes concealing the emotions in her eyes.
Yet from her delicate face, Jon saw a lack of choice.
Holding Titus Zane’s hand tightly, Jon said, "Carry, you’re still young, with so much road ahead of you. Whether or not you think of me as a friend, I’ve always considered you one, and so, as a friend, I hope you won’t continue down this path. You’re a talented and beautiful woman, and better opportunities are waiting for you!"
Silence, the room’s atmosphere heavy with Jon’s earnest words.
The two sat on the couch, facing each other, Jon’s hand firmly holding Titus’s, staring at her subdued eyes, her trembling curled lashes signifying her emotional struggle and turmoil.
On Jon’s face too, was a rarely seen serious and earnest expression, the frivolous smile gone; sitting before Titus Zane now was the true Crown Prince of Country E.
