Mia Foster’s lips curved lightly, "I was in a rush, didn’t have time to notify."
If she had any thoughts about Steven British before, they were suppressed after that asshole Felix Shaw forced himself on her and then sent her back to the country.
Although she was educated abroad and her friends were open and free, deep down, she was very traditional.
She had already had more than one encounter with that bastard Felix, and now it seemed he was genuinely into her.
However, having been neglected by him for so many years, it was now time for him to experience being left out, otherwise how could she call it even?
"Foster!" Hearing Mia say this, Steven British feigned being wounded, frowning as he stood across from her, leaning on the desk with both hands. His height and build gave him an advantage, and with just a slight lean forward, his fair and handsome face was close to Mia’s.
Subconsciously, Mia leaned back without a word.
"How can you be ?" Steven’s fair and handsome face scrunched up, his expressive facial expressions while speaking were really too exaggerated.
"We’re friends, the closest friends. Have you considered my feelings when you do this?"
Steven British placed a hand on his chest, "The last time, you left without a word, not even a phone call. This time you’re back, and it’s the same. Doing this, you’ll end up with no friends!"
Mia Foster couldn’t help but laugh at Steven’s exaggerated words. This man, recently enamored with domestic literature, browsed local jokes online in his spare time. Now, he was practically a walking comedian, spouting jokes without even realizing it.
"Steven, stop it, I’ve always treated you as a friend."
This seemed to be of great comfort to Steven, who pursed his lips, his brown brows arching, "I sure don’t feel it."
"Alright, my bad, I shouldn’t have left for the country without saying anything, nor should I have returned that way. Tell me, what do I need to do to be forgiven?"
Mia had to admit, Steven had brought her a lot of joy over the past year.
Maybe foreign men are just born optimistic, living happily this second even if the sky might fall the next. So, over a year of companionship, Steven’s optimism infected her, slowly pulling her out of the shadow of that bastard Felix.
"Alright, seeing as you’re so sincere, I’ll forgive you this time," Steven was clearly taking advantage while acting cute, the smugness showing in the curve of his lips.
"But, you’re treating me to dinner as a sign of good faith."
"Sure, I’ll treat." Mia agreed readily. She had been working overtime for a week and didn’t want to continue that night. Rising from her office chair, she tidied up the paperwork on her desk, "Let’s go, what would you like to eat?"
Seeing Mia round the desk, Steven British gallantly bent his arm, and, with a sense of resignation yet amusement, Mia threaded her hand through his arm.
"It’s been so long since I’ve had steak..." Steven said, pretending to talk to himself. Mia knew all too well what he was thinking.
Eating steak was a romantic affair, and since that asshole Felix was there too, it was the perfect opportunity to use Steven to annoy Felix, letting him experience what she had felt back then.
