While speaking, Wesley Foley had already raised his glass, giving a nod to Nathan Moore across the table. Despite his known poor tolerance for alcohol, he still tilted his head back and downed a glass of red wine in one gulp.
After finishing, he gestured with the empty glass to Nathan Moore again before placing it back on the table.
It was evident to everyone at the dinner table that the two directors, though outwardly cordial and harmonious in their collaboration, were actually engaged in an overt and covert struggle, with every sentence filled with hidden meanings, only that
they didn’t quite understand them.
Nathan Moore sneered, lifted his glass, and tilted his head to pour the red wine into his mouth swiftly. He drank so hastily that some of the red liquid spilled out of the corners of his lips, slow and visibly infuriated.
At least, that’s how it appeared to Titus Zane’s eyes.
She wanted to say something, to stop Nathan Moore, suggesting that since his alcohol tolerance was nearly at its limit, he shouldn’t overdo it.
However, in front of so many people, except for Wesley Foley, no one was aware of their "relative" relationship, so to avoid criticism, she could only silently watch, her lush lips tightly pursed.
After putting down his glass, Nathan Moore looked at Wesley Foley and slowly wiped away the wine stain with his thumb, even deliberately licking it with his tongue, his eyes slightly narrowed, adding a touch of sinister charm.
"Director Moore really has a great capacity for alcohol," Manager Huang spontaneously applauded next to him, with the secretary joining in the praises. As Tilly Zimmerman added some food to Nathan Moore’s plate, before he could even use it, Manager Huang had already stood up, took the bottle, and filled his glass again.
"Here, Director Moore, if you don’t mind the humbleness of my position, I’d like to toast you as well."
Without waiting for Nathan Moore’s reaction, he too downed his drink in one go and then gestured with his empty glass to Nathan Moore, whose bloodshot eyes rested on the nearly overflowing red wine in front of him. His drooping gaze revealed no emotions, but his lips curled up in a bare disdain.
Just as Titus Zane was about to interject, Nathan Moore had already grabbed the glass, tilted his head back, and emptied it in one gulp, then slammed the empty glass down on the table forcefully, his gaze sweeping across with a somewhat wild smirk, "Who else would like to toast Director Moore!"
Everyone seated here was intellectually sharp; it was clear for all to see that this meal was Wesley Foley’s deliberate attempt to get Nathan Moore drunk.
Exchanging a silent look, Jessica Taylor, as if unaware of the tense atmosphere, stood up enthusiastically with her glass raised, "Director Moore, I am unworthy, but I also toast to you and hope for your favor."
After speaking, she too drank up in one gulp.
"Pour it up!" Glancing at his empty glass, Nathan Moore commanded.
Tilly Zimmerman visibly trembled along with still-standing Jessica Taylor and Manager Huang; only Wesley Foley leaned back in his chair, his pale, handsome face adorned with a soft smile.
The expression on Titus Zane’s face wasn’t too pleased, her gaze constantly on Nathan Moore. Regrettably, he didn’t even glance her way, as if she didn’t exist.
"Director Moore, you..." Tilly Zimmerman held the wine bottle, hesitating to pour, "Fill it up!" Nathan Moore shot a cold look her way, causing Tilly Zimmerman to tremble again and quickly fill the empty glass with red wine.
But, she only poured half a glass before attempting to sit back down, only to be coldly rebuffed by Nathan Moore again.
"What? Was I not clear enough?"
Startled, Tilly Zimmerman had no choice but to fill the glass to the brim with red wine.
Nathan Moore didn’t hesitate, grasped the glass, and once again tilted his head back, downing the entire glass of wine.
Sitting in Titus Zane’s direction, it was clear to see his discomfort as he frowned, brief though it was, but she saw it clearly.
