Mr. CEO's Substitute Bride Chapter 400

Titus Zane instinctively looked up across, Tilly Zimmerman had already sat back down, and at this moment, Nathan Moore’s arm that was holding the empty cup was already resting on the back of her chair, from the opposite angle, it looked like he was embracing Tilly Zimmerman’s shoulder.

His deep red eyes looked towards her, and when their eyes met, there was no disturbance.

Titus Zane withdrew his gaze, dropping it into his own bone container, pushing aside the meat Wesley Foley had added, and said in a cool tone.

"Thank you, Director Foley, for your kindness, but I am very satisfied with my figure."

A straightforward, unapologetic remark, which provoked a dismissive curl of the lip from Secretary Taylor, but Wesley Foley himself chuckled, feeling quite pleased.

Leaning lazily against the back of the chair, one hand resting on the table, he looked at Titus Zane with a tilted posture.

"Carry, do you know why I hired you as my assistant?"

Titus Zane swallowed the piece of green bamboo shoot in his mouth, put down his chopsticks, took a tissue to wipe his fingers, and said indifferently, "I don’t know."

She truly didn’t know why Wesley Foley would hire her as an assistant, since they had only met once. If it was said that it was for her professional expertise, it could be somewhat plausible, but in reality, she had no work experience except for painting.

Titus Zane’s downcast gaze fell on her slender fingers, but her curved lashes could not hide the chill in her eyes.

In front of everyone, Wesley Foley suddenly reached out and grabbed Titus Zane’s hand, raised it slightly, admiring it carefully.

Titus Zane’s hand was as finely crafted as white jade, with beautifully curved lines and long fingers. Under the brilliant crystal light, it shone like fine jade.

Across, Nathan Moore’s deep red eyes darkened a bit, but he remained motionless and did not say anything.

Manager Huang and Secretary Taylor exchanged glances, the latter giving another disdainful sneer.

Figured it was just because of the pretty face she got into the company, how odd, since when did their president start collecting vases?

Titus Zane raised her eyes, looking at Wesley Foley, the paper towel already crumpled in her hand, but instead of discarding it, she still held it tightly.

Wesley Foley admired Titus Zane’s fingers and slowly began to speak

"Carry, although only peonies are truly beautiful, the magnolia in a sea of flowers represents the highest form of elegance.

Without competing for attention or seeking pity, they reveal their fragrance quietly with pride.

Perhaps I am a man who does not understand elegance, preferring the simplicity of magnolias to the nobility of peonies."

Wesley Foley’s words were undoubtedly a confession, and moreover, in front of Nathan Moore and his own subordinates.

Titus Zane drew her gaze back slightly, and the hand Wesley Foley admired and grasped was also naturally withdrawn, the paper towel between two fingers lightly tested, a very casual action, but done effortlessly with grace.

Perhaps some qualities are innate, such that they cannot be concealed even without deliberate display.

Her lips curved into a faint smile, and such was the face of Titus Zane – seemingly indifferent when not smiling, but once that smile bloomed, her eyes, although slightly modified in a Western style, could hardly hide her charm.

"Director Foley is jesting, I am merely a weed amongst a sea of flowers, not as lofty as you say."

With those words from Titus Zane, the thoughts of those at the dinner table diverged.

Nathan Moore’s eyes, slightly narrowed, appeared hazy, making it even more difficult to discern his emotions, while Tilly Zimmerman beside him wore a face of envy.

Manager Huang greatly appreciated Titus Zane’s attitude, as the young people nowadays are too proud. Once they achieve something, they elevate themselves too high, long forgetting the old saying that ’there are always others beyond oneself.’

Jessica Taylor scoffed, noting the self-awareness, and picked up the wine bottle, pouring herself another glass of red wine.

But Wesley Foley laughed once more.
