Mr. CEO's Substitute Bride Chapter 624

Receiving a text message from Titus Zane, Nathan Moore always felt that things weren’t so simple. How could a perfectly healthy man suddenly become so sick that people needed to fly over for a visit?

After communicating with the doctor and preparing to arrange the discharge as soon as possible, the doctor said that he still needs to be hospitalized for observation for a while...

With no other options, Nathan Moore could only prepare for both possibilities, ready to fly to Banyan City as soon as Titus Zane calls for help.

The private jet landed at the airport in Banyan City, and Max Locke personally came to pick them up. On the airport’s grass, a row of military jeeps was parked, and in order to look formal, the old man was dressed in a military uniform, draped with a military green coat, looking very authoritative.

Since the Locke Family was relocated from Capital City, the two elders hadn’t seen each other for nearly thirty years. Decades of deep friendship revived, the two old men shook each other’s hands excitedly upon meeting.

On the way back to the Locke Family home, Titus Zane and Finnian Xenos were in the same car, and he couldn’t help but ask with concern, "Uncle Max, what sickness does Alder Locke have? Is it serious?"

Finnian Xenos just smiled faintly, "It’s a heart problem, you’ll understand when you see him."

He could only maintain a neutral attitude towards the old man’s decision; the future development of things was unpredictable for anyone.

The military jeep drove unobstructedly, entering the Military District’s compound in an hour.

When the daughter-in-law came, Emma Reynolds had early instructed the kitchen to get busy. Dressed neatly, she was bustling about and occasionally pushing open the door to look into the yard.

Hearing the sound of the car engine, Emma Reynolds hurried out of the kitchen, walked out the door to welcome the guests.

Entering the living room and after the polite small talk, Titus Zane eagerly asked, "Which room is Alder Locke in? I want to go see him." She wanted to see how seriously ill he was so that after seeing him, she could return to Capital City early to take care of Nathan Moore.

Seeing her daughter-in-law enter the door and care so much about her son’s condition, Emma Reynolds was overjoyed, saying, "Come, I’ll take you there," while pulling Titus Zane’s wrist, leading her towards the stairs.

As they reached the third-floor corridor, Emma Reynolds led Titus Zane to a stop in front of a room, knocked gently twice, then pushed open the door.

"Alder, look who’s here!"

In Alder Locke’s room, the curtains were tightly drawn, as dark as night, not letting in a single ray of light. The moment Emma Reynolds pushed the door open, Alder, lying on the bed, suddenly covered his eyes with the blanket, irritably exclaimed, "Can’t I get some peace alone!"

Emma Reynolds let go of Titus Zane’s hand and walked straight into the room, yanking open the tightly closed curtains, "Get up quickly, see who’s here!"

Just as Alder Locke was about to lose his temper, Titus Zane had already walked in, slowly approaching the bedside. Alder quickly threw off the covers and sat up, staring at Titus Zane with a surprised and disbelieving look in his eyes.

"You... How did you get here?"

Initially, Titus Zane thought that Alder Locke was faking his illness, with the purpose of tricking her grandfather into taking her to Banyan City, but upon seeing Alder Locke’s emaciated face, she could hardly believe it. How could a healthy man lose weight so rapidly in just a few days?

Currently, Alder Locke was wearing a light gray V-neck loungewear, which hung loosely on his body, as if it was two sizes too large, and through the fabric, Titus Zane could even see his slender frame.

His face had also changed. Due to excessive weight loss, his forehead and cheekbones became prominent, his eyes especially large, and those thin lips.

Only his cheeks had become smaller, sunken deeply.

Titus Zane couldn’t quite describe what she was feeling, but even seeing an acquaintance become so haggard overnight would stir feelings of compassion.
