She managed to smile gracefully and politely said, "Thank you."
Felix Shaw raised his eyebrows; women were never immune to his looks. He remembered the first time he met Elizabeth White, he deliberately leaned in close with that same pose, and she, bashful, hung her head as two patches of red quickly climbed her cheeks.
He didn’t know if this woman was truly indifferent or just feigning composure, but judging by her unfazed expression, she would definitely qualify as a girlfriend.
At the very least, she wasn’t like most women who drooled over him; he despised women who overestimated themselves.
Neither of them spoke further. Their faces were less than thirty centimeters apart, one playfully amused, the other always maintaining a suitable curve at the corner of her lips.
Eventually, Felix Shaw couldn’t hold back any longer. He raised his handsome brow and his lips curved slyly, "So, are you satisfied with me?"
Mia Foster wasn’t coy; she frankly admitted, "I like men like you," to which Felix Shaw raised his eyebrows again, his playful expression tinged with surprise, as Mia continued, "At least you don’t hide your flaws behind a mask of hypocrisy."
"Impressive!" Felix Shaw praised, sat back, and leaned into the chair. It was clear that the woman across him had her pride, so when the time came, and he suggested breaking up, she likely wouldn’t resort to desperate measures.
The server brought the dishes, a few of them, just four, but each looked exquisite.
"Would you like some beer?"
Felix Shaw suggested, and Mia Foster declined with a smile, "I drove here."
A blind date usually involved chatting to get to know each other more, but Mia Foster’s behavior had refreshed Felix Shaw’s view on dating. She buried her head in her meal, speaking very little.
Seeing Felix Shaw lazily sipping beer while watching her, without having touched his chopsticks, Mia Foster stopped and looked at him with an apologetic smile, "Sorry, I was worried about looking unappealing, so I skipped dinner."
Felix Shaw raised an eyebrow, leaned back in his chair with a mocking look, "And you’re not worried now?"
Mia Foster smiled, "I am, but filling my stomach is more important."
"Are you always this direct?"
"Directness doesn’t require pretense when facing someone who is straightforward."
She couldn’t possibly pretend for a lifetime with a man she intended to spend her days with.
"Interesting,"
Felix Shaw mumbled to himself. Mia Foster just chuckled and continued to eat.
"Don’t you want to ask me anything?" Felix Shaw spoke again. Mia Foster looked up, an obvious curiosity in her gaze, before hearing him say.
"Like... my age, profession..."
Mia Foster put down her chopsticks, picked up the napkin to wipe her lips, her movements graceful and proper.
After placing the napkin down, she rested her elbows on the table and, looking at the smiling Felix Shaw, said,
"Felix Shaw, twenty-seven, the only son of Hutton Group, a graduate of J Business School..."
Listening to Mia Foster list his details, Felix Shaw’s smile turned frivolous.
"That’s it? Did you check whether I have any bad habits?"
"Yes," Mia Foster replied with her usual poised smile, looking at Felix Shaw, "If you have a bad habit, it would be your philandering."
"Then are you still satisfied with me?" Felix Shaw leaned back in his chair, casually sipping his beer, his raised eyebrow and the twinkle of flirtation in his eyes were unmistakably playful, especially those peach-blossom eyes that seemed to be captivating you all the time.
Locking eyes with Felix Shaw’s enchanting gaze, Mia Foster said, "A man is fickle because he hasn’t met the woman who truly moves his heart. Once he does, he’ll be more devoted than any other man."
