Sophie Foster grabbed the handle, half stuck her body in, and called out with a cheeky grin, "Uncle Nicholas?"
Nicholas Croft turned his head as Sophie also walked in.
She was clad in a black, tight-fitting leather outfit, densely studded with rivets, and the black leather bag slung over her shoulder matched with rivets as well. Her long hair dyed green was braided into countless centipede braids, hanging in front of her chest and over her shoulders, screaming non-mainstream.
"Hi, good evening to all the hunky uncles." Sophie greeted Evander Lancaster and Felix Shaw with a playful smile on her face.
"Off work?" Evander raised an eyebrow and asked.
"Yep, my slot was early today." Sophie was a resident singer at a nightclub, with no fixed working hours.
Coming before Nicholas, she turned and saw Daniel Armstrong beside him, with eyes widened in shock and exaggeration, mouth agape.
"Wow, this uncle has shed so much blood, is it that time of the month?"
With that one line, she made Evander and Felix burst into laughter.
"Big bro, little Sophie is getting cuter!" Evander glanced at Daniel’s pale face and gave Sophie a thumbs-up.
This girl, even when insulting someone, wouldn’t use a single cuss word. Seeing the blood from Daniel’s nose, she actually referred to it as period blood.
"What? Did I say something wrong?" Sophie feigned ignorance as she glanced at Nicholas, her small paws clinging tightly to his arm, her actions endearing.
At first glance, that bleeding-nosed guy didn’t seem like a good person, though it was their first meeting. But she had seen Uncle Nicholas forcefully dragging a fairy-like lady into the elevator just as she stepped out, even though she only caught a glimpse from behind, she recognized it immediately.
And this stranger inside the card room got beaten up... Hmm, she could guess what had just happened without even asking.
"What do you think, you little rascal!" Nicholas pinched Sophie’s chin, trying to look stern but his eyes and brows betrayed his indulgence.
He didn’t bother to correct her, nor did he introduce Daniel to her. Getting up, he took her by the hand and went to the coat rack to get his jacket.
"Farewell, all you uncles! Mwah..." Being led out by Nicholas, Sophie didn’t forget to wave back at Evander and Felix, then puckered her lips repeatedly blowing kisses.
To Sophie’s boisterous and childish behavior, Evander and the others had long been accustomed, and the two big guys also puckered their lips returning the "mwah."
Initially, Nicholas didn’t allow her to say goodbye like that to his own brothers, as his woman should not just randomly blow kisses at other men, but over time, Sophie did it so often that it eventually became the norm.
Anyway, she was a child who never seemed to grow up, mature in body perhaps, but her intellect and behavior were not yet fully developed.
They hadn’t even left the card room when Sophie’s phone in her backpack started ringing. Sophie stopped, said, "Wait a sec," and her hand, painted with colorful nail polish, reached into her bag rummaging around.
She took out her phone, studded with tiny diamonds, and placed it on her ear. "Hello? Zizi? ...Got it, I’m on my way."
After hanging up, Sophie clutched Nicholas’s sleeve, tilting her head up, and pouted at him coquettishly.
"Uncle Nicholas, a table of patrons at the club singled me out for a song..."
"How much for one performance?" Nicholas dropped his gaze with a smirk, eyeing Sophie.
"Well... that can vary..." Sophie’s index finger twirled around her braids as she dragged out the sentence with cunning sparkling in her eyes.
"Could be a few hundred, a few thousand, and if I dazzle the guests with my singing, who knows, they might even tip me over ten grand in their joy."
