Watching Mia Foster’s retreating figure, Felix Shaw’s handsome eyebrows gradually tightened, always feeling that this woman was hiding something from him. Otherwise, why would she make a special trip to the company, just to see him?
Obviously, that wasn’t the case, because she had never done such a thing before.
He shifted his gaze back to the work at hand. With the recent heavy workload, there was no energy left to think too much.
When Mia Foster came out of the elevator, she happened to see Oliver Shaw coming from the opposite direction, apparently just having returned from outside, still wearing the same outfit she had seen him in at the mall.
"Uncle Shaw." Mia Foster took the initiative to greet him, her enthusiastic attitude as usual without showing any abnormalities.
Oliver Shaw’s eyebrows furrowed almost imperceptibly, and with a smile he uttered a "hmm", though his tone was as usual, it was filled with probing, "Mia, what brings you to the company? Is there something you need?"
"Oh, I just had lunch with Felix, so I was delayed for a while..." Standing opposite Oliver Shaw, Mia Foster appeared slightly shy,
The excuse of a couple in love having lunch together and then spending some extra time sounded very reasonable.
"Oh, then you better get going," Oliver Shaw said with a smile and a nod, showing no sign of suspicion.
"Uncle Shaw, I’m heading back now, goodbye."
Mia Foster smiled and nodded her head, "Hmm, goodbye, come over to our house when you have time, your aunt has been talking about you these past few days."
"Sure."
After exchanging pleasantries with Oliver Shaw, Mia Foster walked towards her parking spot. Oliver Shaw didn’t rush back, but stood there, turning his head to watch Mia Foster’s departing figure, his eyes slowly narrowing.
He remembered that the figure he saw at the fast-food restaurant was wearing the same outfit...
Watching Mia Foster drive away, Oliver Shaw moved towards the elevator. When he reached the executive office floor, he didn’t go back to his own office but went straight to his son’s office.
As he pushed open the door, Felix Shaw was immersed in work at his desk. Seeing his father enter, he looked up with a puzzled expression, "Dad, what’s up?"
"Nothing, I just ran into Mia. How have you two been getting along lately?" Oliver Shaw spoke as he walked in, clearly coming in to snoop yet currently seeming like a caring father concerned about his son.
Felix Shaw’s peach-blossom eyes tightened slightly, but he responded nonchalantly, "Hmm, pretty well, I just had lunch with her."
"Good, get along well with Mia, she is a very nice girl." Oliver Shaw nodded again, picking up a document from the desk to glance at, asking, "How is the resort project coming along?"
"I just came back from the site, everything is proceeding according to the plan,"
"That’s good," Oliver Shaw nodded again and casually tossed the document back on the desk, "You get back to work," and with that, he turned to leave, "Dad, take care."
Oliver Shaw responded indifferently, opened the door, and left. The moment the office door closed, Felix Shaw set down his pen and leaned back in his executive chair.
Looking at the closed door, his peach-blossom eyes gradually narrowed.
Although Mia Foster was proactive, she seldom came to look for him at the company, especially during working hours, unless he called her first.
And his father Oliver Shaw, having worked in the company for so many years, had basically never come to his office; whatever it was, he would instruct the secretary to call him over.
But just now, both of them had come to his office one after the other, one pretending to be bored and stopping by, and the other pretending to care about his work...
All these signs indicated that something must have happened, but he couldn’t figure out exactly what at this moment.
