Having just sent off a woman, he was about to turn around when he saw his mother coming towards him from afar.
Violet Zimmerman, in a dark red jumpsuit with her black hair elegantly tied at the back, made a very dignified appearance. Evander Lancaster glanced at her briefly and pretended not to see, planning to go and find Nicholas Croft.
"Evander!"
Just as he turned, Violet Zimmerman called out and quickly approached him.
Unable to escape, Evander Lancaster reluctantly turned back, his indifferent face clearly showing impatience.
"Mom, is there something?"
"You this child, can’t I talk to you if there’s nothing!" Violet reproached him gently, "Mom, I’ll go check on Nicholas if there’s nothing." Clearly, Evander Lancaster was reluctant to spend more time with his mother.
"What’s the rush!" Violet reproached again, worriedly grabbing her son’s arm so he wouldn’t leave, as Evander gave a faint look and a clearly helpless sigh.
Seeing everything, Violet maintained her temper and said, "Evander, have you been very busy lately, not coming home for over a month? You’re no longer young, and your mom worries about you living outside all the time."
"I am an adult; there’s nothing to worry about." Evander Lancaster looked around, his anxious demeanor visibly irritable.
Violet softened her tone and pleaded with her son, "Evander, come home to stay. The house is so big, and it feels empty with just mom living there."
With a light scoff, Evander Lancaster laughed, his eyes downcast as he looked at his mother and said meaningfully, "Mom, how can it be empty? Isn’t Uncle and his family living there also?"
Violet was momentarily taken aback, her brows furrowed as she muttered, "Evander..."
"Alright, Mom, look, Uncle is coming over to find someone. Go over there, don’t make him wait anxiously," Evander Lancaster pointed to Joseph Lancaster behind his mother, seemingly looking for someone, then brushed off Violet’s hand from his arm and strode away.
Watching her son’s unattached back, Violet moved her lips but ultimately did not speak.
She always felt that her son might have discovered something, otherwise their every conversation wouldn’t always be so laden with hidden meanings.
As she pondered, Joseph Lancaster had already come up behind her, holding a champagne glass, dressed in a dark suit, his demeanor slightly gloomy despite the glasses on his nose, "Sister-in-law, stop looking, he’s gone far away."
Violet retracted her gaze and murmured, "Joseph, do you think Evander has found out something?"
Joseph Lancaster also withdrew his gaze, his lowered eyes concealing his emotions, "Never mind him, he didn’t eat much in the morning, let’s go, have some food over there."
Standing beside Nicholas Croft, watching his mother and uncle walk away, Evander Lancaster sipped his champagne and slowly narrowed his eyes.
What Evander Lancaster could see, Nicholas Croft could see too. Holding his champagne glass and watching the direction Violet was leaving, he smiled and said, "Evander, it’s good to have Uncle as a helper, otherwise Aunt would worry a lot."
Evander Lancaster’s father passed away early, and it was his younger uncle, Joseph Lancaster, who helped uphold the company left behind, turning Evander Lancaster’s mother, a full-time housewife, into a formidable businesswoman.
Pulling back his gaze, Evander Lancaster did not say anything, but the bitterness was apparent only to himself.

Withdrawing his thoughts and taking a long breath, Evander Lancaster casually asked, "Big brother, why didn’t you bring Sophie along?"
At the mention of Sophie Foster, the lines of Nicholas Croft’s handsome face softened considerably, his gaze lowered and his thin lips slightly lifted, "She says she doesn’t like crowds."
