Felix Shaw couldn’t understand why Mia Foster was angry, no matter how much he pondered over it.
His mother was still in the living room watching TV. Older people usually sleep less, and sitting on the floor for too long made Felix feel tired, so he lay down hoping to rest for a bit. Without realizing it, he fell asleep, and when Mia woke up in the morning, he was still asleep on the floor.
In the summer, the weather was muggy, and the air conditioner was on in the bedroom. Mia had a thin blanket, and didn’t feel cold, but the man sleeping on the floor was freezing.
Felix, in his short-sleeved home clothes, hugged his shoulders tightly against the wall, curled up like a prawn. Perhaps because he was too cold, he tucked himself behind the floor-length curtains to block part of his body.
A feeling that was hard to describe filled her heart. Sitting on the bed, Mia turned her face away and took a deep breath, then got off the bed, draped the thin blanket over Felix’s body, grabbed her clothes, and left the bedroom.
It was still early, not yet six o’clock. Melody Zachary, after staying up late watching TV shows, hadn’t woken up yet. After changing into her dress, Mia opened the apartment door and quietly left.
Riding back home, her parents were already up. Her father, Edmund Foster, was sitting on the sofa reading the newspaper, and her mother was busy in the kitchen.
Seeing her return, her father looked up briefly, although he didn’t say anything, his serious expression clearly showed displeasure.
"Dad," Mia said, closing the door and changing into her slippers as she walked in. Edmund, still holding the newspaper, looked at his daughter seriously through the top of his reading glasses and asked, "What happened last night?"
"Felix’s mother was sick... He took me over to see her..." Mia explained, but her gaze avoided his. She sat down on the sofa beside, realizing she could have simply left yesterday evening.
"That’s all?" Edmund scrutinized his daughter, as if trying to see through her mind, and Mia pressed her lips and nodded, "Yes."
"He still refuses to sign?"
"Yes, he... doesn’t want a divorce." Mia lowered her head even more, her lashes concealing her emotions.
"This bastard, I really don’t know what he’s thinking, getting involved with a minor celebrity and dragging you into it," Edmund set the newspaper aside with a dissatisfied snort, recalling the recent online gossip left his mood sour. Suddenly thinking of something, he turned back to his daughter and asked seriously, "Is he trying to rely on you to deal with old Oliver?"
"I don’t know, he didn’t say," Mia’s voice was low, her gaze remained lowered, yet Felix’s words echoed in her ears, I think I might have fallen in love with you...
"Silly girl, you think everyone is as straightforward as you!" Edmund disapproved, chiding her lightly, "You were framed by that minor celebrity, and he did nothing to help, not even an explanation. Hmph, such a man is better to leave sooner."
Oliver Shaw caused such a ruckus, and the Foster Family didn’t despise it. Who would have thought Felix would be just like his father? Families like that are better to detach from, to avoid making the Foster Family a laughingstock too.
"Dad, I know."

Felix woke up after Mia had left, feeling inexplicably lost as he stared at the empty bed. Lowering his gaze, he looked at the thin blanket covering him. Stroking it with his long fingers, he finally got up from the floor and went towards the bed.
After putting the thin blanket back on the bed and intending to head for a wash, he turned back. His large hand caressed the spot where Mia had lain gently, then he lay down on the bed, closing his eyes, imagining he was sleeping beside Mia.
