Chapter 437: Chapter 438: A world without you is hell for me
Xia Yangyang lifted her head, staring straight into Gu Qichen’s eyes. “There is an alternative, Gu Qichen. You must choose between your sister and our marriage. If you choose me, from this point forward, you will break all ties with Gu Mingzhu, to the extent of never crossing paths again. Even when we are in a life-and-death struggle, you can’t get involved. Can you do that?”
Gu Qichen didn’t change his expression.
But Xia Yangyang noticed that when she mentioned breaking ties with Gu Mingzhu, a storm seemed to surge beneath his calm exterior, a cloud of darkness gathering.
Gu Qichen stood in silence.
Their gazes met, and the only sound in the room was the ticking of the wall clock.
Xia Yangyang already knew the answer.
To her, Gu Mingzhu was a detestable villain, wholly unforgivable.
But to Gu Qichen, she was his dearly beloved sister, his closest kin since childhood.
Xia Yangyang knew Gu Qichen would never agree to her terms, so she deliberately put it this way.

Xia Yangyang seemed unusually serene. “Gu Qichen, this is between me and Gu Mingzhu. I’m sorry it has affected your marriage. But I won’t extend my hatred for her onto you, at least not for now. Let’s not erode the value of our past to nothing. So, let’s part on good terms.”
Gu Qichen watched the woman in front of him. She was so calm that it unnerved him.
She spoke as if his marriage and the difficulties it had caused her were someone else’s issues.
But his marriage was also her marriage.
“Xia Yangyang, if you want to hate me, go ahead. But I will not divorce you,” Gu Qichen stated with determination.
Gu Qichen took a step forward, standing so close that they could hear each other’s breath. “Xia Yangyang, I will never divorce in this lifetime. If you want us to torment each other, then let’s do it for a lifetime. If you’re in hell, I’m willing to descend with you, because a world without you is hell to me.”
Xia Yangyang was stunned.
When she raised her head and looked into Gu Qichen’s eyes, they were filled with warmth and tenderness amidst the pain.
Xia Yangyang couldn’t understand the emotion behind his words.
