Mr. Hawthorne, Your Wife Wants a Divorce Again Chapter 187

Otherwise, if the little guy finds out, don’t even think about eating ice cream next month.

Inside the private room by the stairs.

At the carved camphor wood round table, Laura Quinn was all smiles and enthusiasm as she said to the woman sitting next to her, "Jane, order whatever you like, don’t be shy with Cian."

"Auntie, you’re too considerate. I’m not picky; anything will do." After Jane Sheridan finished speaking, her almond-shaped eyes openly gazed at the distinguished man sitting opposite, without a hint of shyness.

"How can it just be anything? Cian, why don’t you recommend some of this restaurant’s specialties to Jane?"

Hearing this, Cyrus Hawthorne’s slightly furrowed brows showed a hint of coldness and impatience as he said in an icy tone, "Do you think I put aside company matters to play waiter for you?"

"You, child, Jane is not just anyone. You two are going to..." Laura gave Cyrus a partly reproachful and partly suggestive glance, "I just hope to see you settle down soon."

"Auntie," Jane Sheridan smiled brightly, "let’s not say that. Didn’t we agree today was just about chatting with you and browsing around, nothing else?"

Every word and act displayed the elegant poise of a refined lady.

"Ah, whenever I see you, Auntie can’t help but remember your mother. Given my relationship with her, if she were still here, she would definitely be pleased about this marriage. Moreover, you helped me so much; it’s only right for me to thank you sincerely."

Laura Quinn was best friends with Jane Sheridan’s mother, Shuhua Vaughn, in high school, but they grew apart after marrying.

Unlike Laura who was admitted into the prestigious school through her grades, Shuhua Vaughn was born into privilege, always the center of attention.

Laura managed to become friends with Shuhua and enter high society, not just with sincerity.

But now, in this position, sincerity only counts for so much compared to background and power.

"It’s a pity mom is gone." A proper shade of gloom crossed Jane Sheridan’s eyes, before she gently declined, "I didn’t save you for gratitude, I’d have saved anyone the same."

"I knew you were kind-hearted. Even though we’re not mother and daughter, I see you almost as my daughter." Laura comforted Jane, then turned to the silent Cyrus, "Cian, what do you think?"

After a long pause, Cyrus finally looked up from his phone, giving a lukewarm response, "Hmm?"

"Jane saved your mother’s life, isn’t that a debt you should repay somehow?"

Jane Sheridan showed some helplessness, wanting to say something, but Laura patted her hand to signal listening to her.

Laura truly liked and was satisfied with Jane from the bottom of her heart. Putting aside the life-saving grace, if today’s woman were someone else, they would have already thrown themselves at her son.

Not only did she not do this, but she continually declined politely, with exceptional temperament and grace, distinct from others, the ideal daughter-in-law in her eyes.

Seeing Cyrus remain silent, Laura impatiently urged, "Cian, say something."

"Mother, my assistant rescheduling my plans on your behalf should not happen again." Cyrus put away his phone, speaking as cool as ice, "Furthermore, there’s no need to worry about my personal matters, I hope this is my last time reminding you."

With that, he rose from his seat and headed for the exit.

Each of his words was formal and respectful, flawless.

Yet, in Laura’s ears, it sounded like an affront to her elder’s authority!

Laura stood still for a moment, dissatisfaction rising in her eyes, and stood up, "Cian, you’re showing Jane no respect at all!"

But her words were answered by the sound of the door closing a second later.

Jane Sheridan’s expression barely changed; she quickly returned to her usual calm, as though nothing had happened, a determination rising within her.

Outside the room, Mark Joyce saw his boss come out with an icy expression, knowing this wasn’t good.

Cyrus paused beside Mark for a second, his cool voice carrying a trace of irritation, "Let it happen again, and you’re fired."

"Yes, President Hawthorne." Mark responded with a pained expression, caught between two powerful forces, afraid to offend either.

Truly a clash of titans, while the rest suffered.

"Mr. Hawthorne, please wait a moment." Jane Sheridan exited the room, stopping Cyrus who was about to leave, "Today’s events were accidental. Believe it or not, I really don’t wish to pursue any relationship with you; I just couldn’t refuse Auntie."

Saying this, Jane calmly tucked her hair behind her ear, showing none of the infatuation other women might when seeing Cyrus.

Cyrus paused slightly, turning his cold gaze slowly.

Just then, beyond the plant wall separating the private room and restaurant, a familiar figure hurriedly flickered past.

Cyrus’s eyes suddenly froze, his tall figure stiffening, as if something inside him had suddenly exploded.

He took a long stride, heading toward the restaurant opposite.

Mark remembered Jane was the daughter of the Sheridan Family, who had business ties with the Hawthorne Corp., so he stayed to explain briefly.

"It’s alright." Jane smiled lightly, showing little care, turning to leave.

In the restaurant on the other side.

Ann Vaughn patted her cheeks for a rosy glow before returning to the restaurant.

To her surprise, Kenny just glanced at her and huffed, "Mommy, forget about having ice cream this month and next month!"

"Huh? Why!?" Ann paused her actions, her pretty face instantly troubled.

"Kenny already said not to eat too much ice, but you wouldn’t listen. If you don’t listen now, it’s you who’ll suffer later!" Kenny sternly pushed the brown sugar ginger tea toward her, taking on a little CEO demeanor, "Drink it!"

Seeing her dear son’s concern despite being upset, Ann’s resentment over not being able to eat ice lessened, and she gave Kenny’s adorable face a kiss.

"My son is the best!"

Seeing this, Sutton Jennings remained silent for a few seconds, seemingly understanding something.

Why Kenny would claim he was destined to be single.

Truly without comparison there is no distress.

Kenny embarrassedly pushed Ann away with red cheeks, "Mommy, don’t rub your saliva on Kenny’s face..."

Before he finished, Kenny’s gaze suddenly froze on something ahead.

The next moment, almost instinctively, "Mommy, Kenny’s thing fell inside, can you help pick it up?"

"Sure, come over here first." Ann, suspecting nothing, lifted Kenny to sit on the outside seat, reaching her hand into the gap beside the seat, "What did you drop?"

Sutton clearly saw through Kenny’s lie, but when he turned to see Cyrus approaching with a stern face, his expression changed.
