Madame Duke Changning was shouting instead of doing anything more. She helped Lu Jiming up and said with full concern, “How are you doing, Jiming, are you alright? Let’s go home now, I will get you justice!”
They stumbled and got up from the floor. Lu Jiming looked at Gu Chaoyan with disbelief. He had never expected that Gu Chaoyan would want to hit him!
How could that be possible?
He remembered clearly that the ugly girl had clenched steamed buns in her arms just to keep the bun warm, just because he said that he liked warm steamed buns. However, then she got burned herself.
And back at Duke Changning’s Mansion, she jumped into the lake when he asked her to!
She loved him so deeply! Why did she hit him now?
Lu Jiming just could not understand what on earth had gone wrong. He forgot to interrogate her, but staggered back into the wagon.
Madame Duke Changning found everyone around annoying. She kicked the horseman. What were these servants doing when Jiming was hit a minute ago? She was going to make them suffer when they were back at the mansion. They were going to experience multiple times more pain than Jiming did. They were just minor servants, after all.
The wagon scurried off, bringing up a lot of dust.
Qing and Gu Chaoyan were standing outside the court.
Qing was worried. “Miss, do you think Madame Duke Changning would do anything to us?”
“Yes.”
“Then what should we do?” Qing looked anxious and worried.
“It is fine, Qing.” Gu Chaoyan gave Qing’s pretty face a slight pinch. “You don’t have to worry about things around me.”
Qing nodded and looked at her miss. For some reason, what Miss said to her made her very assured.
Gu Chaoyan liked Qing more and more. She might get scared occasionally, yet in the aspect of defending her, she could sacrifice her own life! She must be the one that moved her heart above all in her past two lives.
Seeing Qing’s lovely face, Gu Chaoyan just could not help but tease her. “We don’t need to worry about Madame Duke Changning now. There is one more thing that is more urgent at the moment.”
“What is it?” Qing looked at Gu Chaoyan.
“How are we getting back to the Gu Mansion?”
Qing looked about, then she panicked. The whole Gu Family stayed at Biquan Palace, and Madam Gu had intended to get her to travel home with Duke Changning’s Mansion. However, the prince was hit by her miss and had dashed off.
How were they getting home?!
Qing’s small face showed an expression of confusion.
Gu Chaoyan burst into laughter. “Anyway, I won’t tease you any more. Let’s go and rent a wagon!”
Qing looked helpless, but also slightly delighted. Miss sometimes liked teasing her. It was fun.
It took a long while before they got to rent a wagon. So as they reached the Gu Mansion, the day had gone dark.
No one dared to stop her entry and exit of the Gu Mansion or snap at her.
The guards saw her walking into the mansion politely. However, they could not help but comment.
“Have you noticed that miss has gotten prettier?”
“Yes! She used to be chubby, tanned and ugly, but now she is not ugly at all.”
“If that is the case, she may really be able to marry someone with an extraordinary social status.” The guard who spoke the words found the rumor becoming more and more realistic.
“No way. She may have gotten prettier, but a family like the Gu Mansion would not get her an excellent suitor!”
