Chen Fu’s eyes sparkled. He came back to himself, with the medical bottle tightly clenched in his hands. He shook his head and said, “Nothing, nothing really.”
Then he hurried off.
“Housekeeper Chen!” Gu Chaoyan shouted.
Chen Fu hastened his steps as if he did not hear a thing, as if trying to avoid something.
Sword One knew that something weird was going on, so she asked, “Elder Miss, should I go and get him?”
Gu Chaoyan let out a sigh of relief. After she took a few seconds to consider, she shook her head and said, “No need.”
“He won’t say a thing even if he is here, if he has no intention of saying anything at all.” Gu Chaoyan said, and walked into the room with a serious expression on her face.
Sword One thought for a while and gave it up. That man did not commit any crime. He could not be interrogated with punishing tools. So she walked in with Elder Miss.
Back in the room, Sword One started to make some tea and prepared some pastry.
Elder Miss had no other hobbies than drinking light tea and tasting some pastries. Sword One had no idea if Elder Miss liked pastry or not. Every time she had some pastry ready, Elder Miss would have some of them.
Gu Chaoyan had a lot of thoughts in her mind. She did not even drink the tea Sword One made for her. She just had her hands against the chin.
She kept thinking of Chen Fu’s words – “Elder Miss, I am sorry.”
What was he saying sorry for? What did he really do?
When she was bullied in the mansion, Chen Fu did not take care of her, nor did he do anything bad to her. Compared to the other servants, he was not that evil.
Then could he have done something to embarrass her in the court years ago? Or had he done anything bad now, for him to burst out such words?
Gu Chaoyan was confused – what was going on with Chen Fu?
Gu Chaoyan was so obsessed with her thoughts that she did not see any breakthroughs.
Suddenly she heard – “Elder Miss.”
She looked up and saw Sword One calling her.
“What is it?” Gu Chaoyan was still quite confused.
“Gu Yunhe is here, waiting in the out chamber. I told him that you are taking a rest, but he is not leaving. He says that he needs to talk with you right now,” Sword One said helplessly. Gu Yunhe was so annoying. He was never up to any good whenever he came to Elder Miss. And Sword One wanted to stab him to death seeing how he stared at her.
She did miss the time when she did not have to care about any consequences back at the Shadow Door. Now she could not do much because of the position she was in.
Gu Chaoyan frowned.
Gu Yunhe... What was he doing here?
She patted Sword One’s hand and consoled her. “Go and prepare some warm water. I will check him out.”
Sword One looked at Elder Miss with gratitude.
Elder Miss took care of them and felt for them, even if they were just maids. So she went out to get prepared.
Gu Chaoyan came to the out chamber.
Gu Yunhe took a look at Sword One who just left the spot.
He got annoyed – he was the Elder Master of the Gu Mansion and he had been waiting for so long, but got no water served at all. He struck the empty cup on the table, saying, “What is wrong with you? You don’t even have a maid serving the tea? You are treating me terribly.”
He was definitely going to get that b**ch maid sooner or later, even if he could not get her now.
