Jiang Baizhou didn’t respond; he just glanced casually at Cen Jin beside him and continued eating his meal with a cold expression.
"Don’t worry, Aunt Hui Zi! I just had two bowls of soup; I’m fine now, it’s no problem." Sensing the atmosphere in the dining room was about to get heavy, Cen Jin quickly smiled and joined the conversation.
"Alright, then eat more dishes."
After the meal, Cen Jin once again took on the task of washing the dishes, letting Yu Hui go upstairs to change clothes and get ready to go out. Yu Hui initially refused, but Cen Jin insisted, even pushing Yu Hui by the shoulders to go upstairs. In the end, Yu Hui had no choice but to lovingly roll her eyes at Cen Jin and only went upstairs after asking Jiang Baizhou to help out.
When she came back downstairs, Cen Jin had finished washing the dishes and tidied up the kitchen, while Jiang Baizhou sat comfortably on the sofa watching TV, showing no intention of helping at all.
"Cen Jin, did you clean up all by yourself?" Yu Hui, fashionably dressed with a bag slung over her shoulder, looked at Cen Jin as she walked out of the kitchen and asked.
Cen Jin gave a dry smile, not wanting to complain in front of Jiang Baizhou, she just gave Yu Hui a ’you know’ look.
Understanding the situation, Yu Hui directly walked over and gave Jiang Baizhou, who was watching TV, a firm slap: "Didn’t I tell you to help out?"
Perhaps the slap hurt, Jiang Baizhou furrowed his brow and looked at Miss Yu Hui: "It’s already one-thirty."
Upon hearing that, Yu Hui quickly checked the silver watch on her wrist: "Oh no! There’s not much time left, I’ll deal with you later. Cen Jin, I’m going now."
"Alright, Aunt Hui Zi, take care on your way."
After watching Yu Hui drive away, the whole villa suddenly became quiet, leaving only her and Jiang Baizhou. Seeing Jiang Baizhou staring intently at the TV, Cen Jin shuffled over to the single sofa in the living room: "Um... are you going to take a nap later? Then I won’t disturb you, I’ll head back now..."
Just as she was about to turn and leave, Jiang Baizhou’s lazy, mellow voice lingered by her ear.
Jiang Baizhou glanced at her, seemingly resigned, and sighed silently: "Come over, sit down."
"For what?" Cen Jin suspiciously eyed him.
"Are you afraid of me?" Jiang Baizhou scowled, his sharp gaze fixed intently on her.
Cen Jin was initially startled by his ’fearsome’ look but then amusingly waved her hand, not too bothered: "It’s broad daylight, you’re not some ghost or god, why would I be afraid of you."
"Come over and sit down."
Cen Jin pouted, cautiously observing his expression. She wondered if she had done something crazy while drunk last night to provoke him; he seemed so out of character.
Though she thought so, her body obediently moved toward him, sitting in the single sofa. Seeing that he didn’t seem to want to talk, Cen Jin quietly took out her phone and opened WeChat, starting to ask Lu Shishu what happened after she got drunk last night.
Lu Shishu quickly replied but with a mischievous and slightly cheeky emoji. Upon seeing this sticker, Cen Jin suddenly felt like she wanted to jump off a building.
Just as she started believing she must have done something excessive when drunk last night, Lu Shishu replied again, "I don’t know either, Jiang Baizhou came and picked you up yesterday. I took a cab home, so I’m not sure what happened after that. Why don’t you ask Jiang Baizhou?"
Cen Jin was speechless, becoming engrossed in the conversation and started chatting away.
Jiang Baizhou leaned on the sofa, propping his head with one hand, feeling an inexplicable irritation that wouldn’t go away. Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed her engrossed in her phone, chatting animatedly with someone.
