Jiang Baizhou sat sideways with his arm resting on the bar counter, his thumb and index finger rubbing together. His deep eyes were fixed on the busy figure in the kitchen, and a hint of a smile appeared in his eyes.
But when he saw her fumbling, the smile in his eyes gradually disappeared, replaced by complete worry.
He wasn’t worried about her, but whether they’d be able to eat dinner tonight.
Watching the oddly-shaped tomato slices on the chopping board in the distance, Jiang Baizhou raised a hand to rub his forehead. Seeing her frying eggs and dodging oil splashes, he sighed silently, got up, and went to the living room with his phone. After thinking for a bit, he decisively opened the takeout app.
Half an hour later, Jiang Baizhou was leisurely watching TV in the living room when Cen Jin came out of the kitchen with a dismal face, as if suffering some great grievance. Jiang Baizhou, seeing her , basically understood. He placed the TV remote to the side and pretended to be clueless, asking, "What’s up?"
"Well... I burnt the only three eggs, and the tomatoes too. And I think I used sugar instead of salt in the noodles." Cen Jin lowered her eyes, awkwardly touched her nose, and answered sullenly.
This was not quite what she had imagined. What went wrong?
This result was within Jiang Baizhou’s expectations. He just didn’t want to discourage her enthusiasm, so he let her be. Now, she had earned the title of ’kitchen scourge.’
Fantastic, very impressive.
"Come here." Looking at her dejected figure, Jiang Baizhou called lightly.
"Hmm?" Cen Jin looked up at him, sighed, and asked, "What?"
Upon hearing this, Cen Jin pursed her lips, walked slowly over, and sat on a single sofa closest to him. "Then what?"
"Wait, it should be soon."
"Wait for what? What’s coming soon?" Seeing his calm demeanor, Cen Jin was bewildered and didn’t understand what he meant.
"When did you order it?"
"When you decided to cook noodles."
Cen Jin was speechless. Her bright eyes were filled with injured fury as she glared at him: "I suspect you’re insulting me."
"No need to suspect, I am."
Cen Jin’s lips twitched slightly, feeling like a lump of blood was stuck in her throat, unable to go up or down. She was so angry she got up from the sofa, hands on hips, and said very seriously, "Let’s break up!"
"How many minutes this time, you say." Jiang Baizhou remained extremely calm, not panicked at all. Her breaking up was a common occurrence for him.
Since childhood, he didn’t know how many times she had broken up with him. At most, in two days, she’d talk to him like nothing happened, discussing math problems or physics topics.
Cen Jin spoke again, with even more obvious anger in her eyes, snorted from her nose: "Hmph, then I’ll go home." With that, she bent down to unplug her phone charger, grabbed her bag, and decisively walked towards the door.
"I ordered your favorite braised chicken." Jiang Baizhou lazily watched her back, casually remarking with a relaxed tone.
Sure enough, the moment she heard ’braised chicken,’ Cen Jin’s steps halted, unable to move forward, and she turned to glare at him: "You think tempting me will work."
Shouldn’t he have persuaded me a bit more?

"Alright then! I’ll forgive you this time." Cen Jin thought about it, hesitated a bit, and decided that since he didn’t offer her a way out, she’d give herself one.
