The warm breath on the abrasion on her foot sent a tingle straight to her heart, making Cen Jin stiffen up completely, sitting rigidly as she watched his expression with utmost confusion. Particularly his cautious demeanor, as if he were treating some rare treasure, created another illusion in her heart, shaking her belief in what seemed impossible.
In the quiet, simple pink room, the sound of her accelerating heartbeat could almost be heard. Cen Jin slowly raised her hand to her chest, trying hard to contain herself. Her red lips moved as though she was about to give voice to something she’d long held in her heart.
But for some reason, the impulsive thought was abruptly suppressed by the sentence that suddenly popped into her mind, ’I have someone I like.’
"What’s wrong?" Jiang Baizhou raised his eyes, accidentally catching her slightly lost and lifeless expression, so he asked.
Cen Jin looked over and met his indifferent and cool gaze. Her lips moved but in the end, she just shook her head, "No, nothing."
"Does it hurt a lot?"
"If it hurts, just say so."
"It’s not the pain..." Cen Jin wanted to explain but felt a little weak, so she had to give up with a smile, "Never mind, anyway, thanks for tonight."
"There’s no need to say thanks between us," Jiang Baizhou said, lowering his gaze, tossing the used cotton swab into the trash, and capping the bottle of medicine before placing it back in the bag. He paused, stood up, and looked down at her, "No need to be so distant with me, we’ve known each other for so many years."
Cen Jin was startled, her mouth curved into a helpless smile, she raised her eyebrows and nodded, joking lightly, "That’s true, I did trouble you a lot as a child and never thanked you."
Watching the smile on her face, Jiang Baizhou squinted his eyes, remained silent for a moment, and then said, "Take care. I’m heading back. Call me if anything; Aunt Qin should be back soon."
"Okay." Cen Jin smiled serenely, responding softly.
Jiang Baizhou turned to walk to the door, but his steps suddenly halted. He turned back to ask, "Are you going to the studio tomorrow?"
"Yes." Cen Jin nodded earnestly, "I signed a contract with Yun Group today, and the agreed location for this collaboration is arranged at the studio side."
"Will Yun Qi be there?"
"I don’t know, but his cousin Yun Xi will be there, and since tomorrow is the first day of cooperation, he should be there!"
"What time are you leaving tomorrow?"
"Around eight-thirty."
"Together." Jiang Baizhou withdrew his gaze, opened the door, and added, "On the way."
"Sure!" Cen Jin agreed readily, thinking why wouldn’t she take a free ride?
After hearing her agree, Jiang Baizhou walked straight out of the room, and as he closed the door, he reminded, "Get some rest early, and keep the wound away from water."
After Jiang Baizhou left, Cen Jin let out a heavy sigh, looked at her scarred legs, then fell backward onto the soft big bed, arms spread wide, staring at the ceiling. Her mind indeed was in chaos, mumbling, "Just a little bit more, Nie Cenjin, you almost said it."
Around ten-thirty, Cen Jin wanted to take a bath, but it was difficult with her injured leg, and she couldn’t let it get wet, which was a bit of a challenge for her. So she had to wait for Ms. Qin to come home.
But when Ms. Qin returned and saw her this way, her usually hot-tempered demeanor suddenly turned to a tearful tone, grabbing Cen Jin’s shoulders, she asked, "What... what happened? Cen Jin, what happened? Your leg..."
